I just found this forum yesterday and have read through a lot of topics including the one on stretching the foreskin, but I've yet to come a across a topic with with my specific situation.First, I'm 17 years old. When flaccid I'm unable to pull my foreskin over my head, I can do it maybe 1/4 of the way before it becomes painful. When erect I can hardly pull my foreskin down at all, only the very tip of the head shows. Do I have an extreme case of phimosis? I'm wondering if doing the stretching exercises everytime I shower would be sufficient enough to get the foreskin to retract all the way. I'd hate to have to go to the doctor and explain the situation, as it's a pretty embarassing topic to bring up with my parents.

I have phimosis, would like some advice

It doesn't sound like an extreme case ,from my understanding this is when the opening is like a pin hole usually caused by disease/trauma early on an the glans is never seen.If you have some retraction then it just sounds like you need regular practice stretching.Try doing this in the bath as well the warm water will help, once it is at the point where it feels uncomftable try holding it there for longer period each time,30 seconds ,then 1 minute building up to twenty minutes or so.Retraction everytime you go to urinate, stretching forward aswell and the use of cortico steroid creams can also help.check out norm-uk.org for some helpful advice also.

If you follow the regiments of the foreskin stretching advice, it'll usually help. In this case, the skin is tight due to lack of use (and as I always say) the skin hurts not only because it's bein g stretched, but also because it is otherwise filty underneath and is sensitive as all hell. However; I still think you should go to the doctor (which may mean telling your parents) it may seem embarassing as hell, but I assure you they probably won't be shocked or bothered by it. The doctor will probably give you a cream or salve to help loosen the skin or reduce the pain or possibility for infection.

Chances are that most doctors in the US will just recommend circumcision.Caveman.. do the stretching regularly and often.. It should help. However, if you do go to the doctor ask for a steriod creme to help thin the skin as part of a stretching routine.

I was going to add in that disclaimer; SDP, sorry. You may also be able to get salves OTC that have a 'cortisteriod' in them; that is the same thing the doctor will perscribe but will be less potent.

Hm well I'll continue doing the exercises, if there's no progress after 2 weeks or so I'll go to the doctor.
Would baby oil help at all while doing the stretches?
-
Couple of weeks? Well you should see some progress relatively soon, but it can take a couple of "months" to really fix it. Baby oil can keep it moist but you should do it in a warm bath or shower.

Alright thanks. When I am doing the exercises, do you recommend I do it flaccid or erect? Or both? I wonder if I should start off focusing on my flaccid state, and once I can retract it then focus on doing it in the erect state.
-
Yes start flaccid, but you will find it easier when erect. Just be careful not to retract when flaccid and then get an erection. It could get stuck if it's too tight and you can have a hard time losing teh erection.

Hm I just did some stretching exercises and I was able to get the skin down about half the head. The skin is still tight though when halfway down causing my head to turn a little blue which got me a bit nervous. I'm gonna take it slow until the foreskin is able to retract without applying force. Then I'll move onto the exercises while erect. Thanks a lot for the help, really appreciate it.

You can do it when erect becasue the head will be large which will help spread teh opening. Just don't go all the way back (not that you would be able to do it yet). Give it a try. You'll have faster progress.

Hey mate, Your case of phimosis sounds alot like mine, i couldn't pull back at all wen flaccid, could barely see the head of the penis, and wen erect i could pull back at all really. I was 17 also when i found out. I done daily stretches, used creams and even bought the "glansie" tool to help me, however after several months i had literally no improvement. It was very demoralizing. I would recomend you go to your local GP tho, i did on many occasions, because its there job to be there and to help you through medical problems like this, and they have the doctor and patient confidentiality so they wont tell anyone. There is no real reason to tell your parents about it, i did purely because i wanted to get it sorted ASAP and wanted to go private. I told my mum and she was very supportive mate. Id recomend you go see your GP mate first step towards getting a proper diagnose and view your options
