Any body had em? If it passes is that the end of the pain or can there be residual pain? If it is in the bladder, is it possible that it could START to pass, and then shift and just be loose in the bladder again? All I know, is last night, I hurt SOOOO bad....could not pee after drinking almost half a gallon of liquid. The little bit of pee that I could get rid of HURT HURT HURT! I swear, I would have taken labor again, at least that pain came in waves! After about 1000mg (5 over the counter ibuprofen Which I also have a bit of an allergy to) the pain subsided enough that I fell asleep. Finally around 4am I had to pee so bad that I thought I was going to explode, went pee, felt better. This morning I still have a bit of cramping, but not as severe. I have had UTIs before and this is not one. But it didn't hurt to go this time, no blood, none of that. Is it possible that there is a stone in my bladder, and that pain will come back?

Kidney stones?
-
I don't know much about it but if a stone or anything was blocking the ureter, I know it ain't a good thing.I found this with quick search on this site.Quote:Usually, stones pass through the urinary tract without causing any symptoms. However, if calculi obstruct one of the ureters, they can cause the urinary tract to go into spasm, causing a good deal of pain. Large calculi can cause obstructions anywhere within the urinary tract, eventually causing organ damage and even renal failure.

I did a magor google search before I posted. Still have a bunch of questions. Thanks

twas long ago when I had one, I wished for death but passed that bastard instead.
I remeber hitting my knees in teh shitter at work, pissing into a screened funnel the doc gave me to capture the stone.
It was tiny little bastard, hardly the size of a grain of sand. There was more than one but one shot out sorta sideways and I heard it ping off the toilet rim, I dont know how large it was but id guess no more than the one that was caught.
i was sick as fuck, in major pain and ended up in the ER thinking I needed surgery, instead I got a something... the name escapes me, but they broke it up with sound waves and told me to piss it out. thought it would be easy after the breaking, but when I felt it sliding out my tubes, I wished for death and it never came. instead I popped that bastard out, it was maybe 2 or 3 days after the ER visit. i dont recall all the details, that was back in the early 90's. I know I had one son but not the other, so it was between September of 90 and December of 92. I only recall that it FUCKING HURT -
yes, death is definitely desirable now!
-
To be honest...when it finally pops out, its much worse than you thought it would be.there is asudden flood of relief though, then the though of what if there is more to come? its been all thsoe years and I still remember the pain, like fucking drop to your knees with out a choice pain. Its vivid in mymind. I once took a 2 story fall at work, go hung up by a piece of 1/2" rebar that was stuck out and caught in my thigh, turned me to the side, over a handrail, and onto the fire brick after bouncing me off a metal launder, big gash, some stitches and a broken ankle and foot.I rememebr it hurt, and hurt fucking bad, but that memorey is not as vivid as passing that grain of sand.i reccomend pain killers or booze.either one to numb you up and make you piss more often, get it over with and move on.

I am still sucking liquid, and of course my coffee...I don't hurt so bad today but still fucking hurt...and the more I drink, and DON"T go, the more it is hurting...Wholy crap! make it stop!I would love to move on!!
-
Well I know coffee can be a big reason why you could have kidney stones, especially if you're a big drinker of coffee.
-
Yeah, I saw that when I did my search. But mostly because of the dehydration issue it causes...I usually suck down a ton of other stuff. Half gallon a day of water isn't that uncommon for me.

After watching what my stepfather went through when he had kidney stones, I decided I'd stick to mainly water lol.My stepfather has never learned. He had them so bad a year or two ago they had to go and surgically remove them. You'd think by know you'd just give up coffee lol, yet he still drinks it alld ay long.

Your sucking down coffee and not going?mayhaps yours is big and blocking that damned exit tube?If I wa drinking coffee and couldnt piss, sitting there suffering, Id be taking my sweet ass (i really do have one sexy ass) to an ER.Coffee and Coke (not a white powder but a 12 pack a day or so of the cola) were the largest part of why I had mine. I drink less coke now, but I still do an easy 2 pots of coffee a day each day of the year and have never had another.

And then there is this from Wikipedia:"Though caffeine does acutely increase urinary calcium excretion, several independent epidemiologic studies have shown that coffee intake overall is protective for stones."

I know how you feel. I have had several of them...one as big around as a dime (that one had to be blasted before it came out). The way they cause pain is by blocking urin from leaving the kidney...the kidney backs up and swells to a size that creates an ache that is quite similar to being kicked in the balls (for you guys out there to realate to). Once it passes into the bladder the pain subsides as it doesn't block anything there anymore. But it can still be a lot of fun when you pass it out of your crank (again for the guys)...especially if it has sharp edges. I passed some smaller ones the size of a pea, but when they broke up this larger one the pieces had all kinds of sharp edges, and I was passing the pieces for three weeks. You end up hating to go take a leak because you never know when one of those buggers would decide to jab you in the crank on the way out. Girls have it a little easier at this end stage as they have no crank for the little buggers to jab into. The rule of thumb is about 5 cm (centimeters). Anything larger than that and they'll usually decide it needs to be blasted...especially if you haven't passed it on your own within 48 hours.
A lot of studies suggest that drinking tea plays a big factor in producing kidney stones. I used to chug iced-tea like there was no tomorrow...needless to say I've given that up.

Hello Jenn,I had had them twice in my life. Chance is right. I too wished for death but damn-it, it never came. The last time I ended up in the ER room too after trying to get thru it on my own for 3 days of the worst pain I had ever felt and so much throwing up. After 2 huge shots of morphine, I was able to relax. They did some x-rays and then did that ultra sound thing too. It was supposed to bust it up and it did, but I ended up passing a total of 6 stones over those three days. I now look at it as the only time in my life I went into labor and gave birth to 6 happy little stones. I remember I pissed thru the strainer and over the week, they came tumbling out. I saved them so they could determine what like they were. Mine were calcium from taking too many of the wrong kind of calcium tablets. I stopped taking them and I have been fortunate not to ever get them back. But every time I get any kind of sharp pain in my kidneys or think I’m pissing blood again. I freak out and have flash backs as I remember the worst, excruciating pain I have ever felt in my life.I know this is ignorant, but I have never heard of any women getting them. It has always been men who tell the tail…Go have it checked out if it gets bad. You might be just passing a really small one that could be just a smaller piece of a larger one that can’t be passed and its still in there…Keep us posted and my prayers for you to get some heavy duty ass kicking pain killers.

Had I been forced to pass one 2 inches, Id of taken one of my pistols and tucked it under my chin witha nice hollow point filled with mercury and capped with lead. that thing the near size of a grain of sand was horrid, 2 inches Id of nto only wished for death, Id of made certain of it rather than let it roll out and down watching it like a golf ball passing thru a garden hose.
I also think Thor is wrong about it not being a bad for a woman, they still got the same parts, it jsut ends earlier with it all inside the body and aman has that extra few inches to get it out

I wa always told a few was 3 or more. and how much I got hanging depends greatly on temp. This morning, I had no anythign hanging when I arose from bed, the power had been out and the heat gone a snow storm blanketing the car. when I jump forth from the shower, thers a hella lot more than a couple inches hanging

LoL I think if a stone is what it is, it's gonna hurt no matter what. Guys are more likely to get them but women do too. Chance, I am going, its just that it waits till I feel like I am about to expload, almost like something is in the way of the urethra. IDK. It totally nailed me this afternoon again. And when I am hurting the worst, my tummy gets sick, so I don't want to drink or eat ANYTHING. But do manage to dump a bunch of ibuprofen. If it doesn't stop in the next couple days, you bet I am heading into ER. I am sure the kids think I am odd, because with the trailer toilet, you can see pretty well what you left behind, and I keep looking..lol I will keep you posted...

LOL...yep...I mean 5 millimeters! (Shudders at the idea of 5 cm)
