Has anyone else seen it? I love it! It's old, from the 70's I think, and black and white, but still awesome! I'm surprised that this is such a great movie, and I've never even heard of it before, kind of like the Princess Bride. There's probably others, I just can't think of any. Still, some of the moments in this one just have me rolling on the floor laughing, like the part in the beginning where they meet Frau Brunstein, er, something like that. But those who saw it know what I mean Your thoughts?

Young Frankenstein
-
Yes, it's one of Mel Brooks' funniest movies (along with Blazing Saddles). The Producers (the original movie, with Dr. Frankenstein himself) was also funny. What big knockers.
-
Mel Brook's is brilliant! You have to see Blazing Saddles, its one of the greatest movies I've ever seen! "Nobody move, or the nigger gets it!"
-
Yup..seen it ages ago and still love it.
Did you know that the Frankenstein monster was played by Frank Barone (Peter Boyle) the grumpy dad in the Everybody Loves Raymond sitcom who died recently?
-
He was the "monster".
-
I saw bits and pieces of Blazing Saddles, but haven't seen it all yet. Still great though
sdp: Yeah, I did notice that. He looks almost the same as he did on Everybody Loves Raymond. I also heard about his death. Very sad :frowning: I always loved him on that show.
-
Yes, I have. I love it, too.
-
Has anyone actually had the pleasure to listen to the '2000 year old man' series of jokes with Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner? The whole, long production is actually quite well done. Spaceballs is one of my old favorites, too Mel Brooks, hehe...that guy rules."The power of the schwartz!"
-
Yes. In fact, a long while back, there was a cartoon version of the 2000 Year Old Man.
-
His "docker" bit was good too."No no, it dosn't say DOCTOR (DR) see? It says docker (DcR)"What a fortunate world we'd live in if there were more like him.
-
Yes, but we must not forget Blazing Saddles. It was a work of genius.
-
Love it, and mel brooks

It's almost tragic that some people haven't seen these movies or don't even know about them. Anyone who hasn't seen 'em should make it point to watch 'em.Dr Frankenstein "Tell me, who's brain did... I put in?"Igor "...Abby... someone."Dr Frankenstein "Ahh, Abby. Abby who?"Igor "Abby... Normal, I believe." Dr Frankenstein "Abby Normal?"Igor "Yes, I'm almost certain that was the name."Dr Frankenstein "Your telling me, I put an abnormal brain in a six and half foot long thirty-six inch wide gorilla!"_________________________________________________"Excuse me while I whip this out."As for Blazing Saddles, Steve is right, that truly is a work of genius. As a matter of fact it was recently inducted into something or other, along with five other all time great films, to make sure it's preserved for posterity. I honestly think it should be required viewing in any humanities class.Sheriff Bart to sweet old lady "Mornin' Mamm and isn't it a lovely mornin'?"Sweet little old lady "Up yours, nigger!"*Then latter in the movie.*Sweet little old lady "Sorry about the, "up your nigger"..."Tagert "Here we go to the good trouble to slaughter every last indian in the west and for what? So they can appoint a sheriff that's blacker than any Indian. I am depressed."Lyle "Mr. Tagert, me and the boys sure do hate to see ya this way. Would it pep ya up some if we was to shoot that nigger dead."Tagert "Yeah, that might help."Lilly Von Shtupp to the sheriff "So tell me shawncy, is it twoo what they say about how your people are gifted?"hear pants unzipping in the darkness"It's twoo. Ohhh, it's twoo. It's twoo, it's twoo."...I've seen the movies once or twice.
-
Iv seen them more than once or twice ! prolly a few hundred and wore out several vhs tapes years ago before buying them all on DVD.YF was a classic, so is blazing saddles, and space balls was funny (man we aint found shit !)but how can there be a discussion on this and noone have brought up History of the World Part I ?Do you care if it falls? What? The Roman Empire ..Fuck it...Its time for Mighty Joint !And now...to invent...the catapult !we can mostly glance over Robbin Hood Men in Tights, aside from blind men reading brail playboys.
-
Ah! Forgot about that one! Great movie also!"Nothing! We have absolutely nothing for sale!"
-
And of course there's the farting-around-the-campfire scene, which is probably historically accurate. Those guys mostly ate beans...why didn't anyone think about it before Brooks? And the Yiddish-speaking Indians....
