Yes, but if you see a "hot" celebrity without his or her makeup and lots of Photoshopping, s/he usually looks pretty ordinary. I have a friend who's a professional photographer an has like a direct neuronal connection to his Powerbook, and he can perform miracles with Photoshop. In many cases, he manipulates individual pixels.
He once did a shoot with an expensive set-up, including models, for a car company, and something went wrong with the focus. It would have cost a fortune and would have been a logistical nightmare to redo the shoot. He spent days editing pixels in Photoshop, and he came out with an excellent photo for their magazine ad. (In that case, his effective hourly rate was not very good.)
The point is, don't believe what you see in magazine ads and publicity photos. It's somewhere between reality and art....all flaws are magically erased (after the model spends god knows how long having makeup put on).
It's sad that a lot of people feel bad about themselves because they don't rate compared to what they see in magazines, but what they see is not real. Even the models don't actually rate.
HelmsmaN, you look lovely, but you're no Brad Pitt. But neither is he. His published photos are all retouched.
