Selective Service System
-
The Selective Service System is the means by which the United States administers military conscription. It entails registering all men between the ages of 18 and 25 with the system for the purpose of having information available about potential soldiers in the event of war.
-
Every male who turns 18 needs to register with the Selective Service. It's so that they can draft you into the military if there is a war and they need more people than the number who go in voluntarily.
-
ggreat so this is legit then huh, i just saw the block for my social security number and figured id ask considering i had never heard of it before
-
oh they had the site on the card i got in the mail and have already registered thank you anyways

So what if she's "sexy", that's not all that matters. Her face is too long anyway so there.Miranda Otto is more unique. She has beautiful strawberry blonde hair and gorgeous eyes. How could you think less of her... shame on you

-
umm...hate to break it to ya but Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore win the gorgeous pregnant woman award lol.
-
Oh yea, I remember when I had to sign up for the Selective Service System. Although, I wasn't drafted to go to war. That's good, since there hasn't been a draft in the U.S. in thirty years.
-
If there were a serious war that would require a large amount of ground troops, the uppper age limit would probably be much higher.
You're over 25 A.W.?? I thought you were a littler punk ass teenager.

Guys well into their 40's were drafted into World War II. But we'd start recruiting Mexicans at the border before we'd draft American kids, because that how things are now.Bush was interviewed by Jim Lehrer a few days ago, and when Lehrer asked Bush, "... why have you not, as president of the United States, asked more Americans and more American interests to sacrifice something", Bush replied:Quote:Well, you know, I think a lot of people are in this fight. I mean, they sacrifice peace of mind when they see the terrible images of violence on TV every night. I mean, we've got a fantastic economy here in the United States, but yet, when you think about the psychology of the country, it is somewhat down because of this war.The president is a fucking idiot. Didn't he declare the war in Iraq a war of civilizations, and the most important think of our time? (And wasn't he fired last November?)If we go to war in Iran and God knows where else, there won't be enough Mexicans to fight for us, so there is going to have to be some sort of draft. Even making the current troops do infinite tours of duty won't provide enough bodies.
-
Reading that interview was like reading a book report my son wrote in second grade.
-
Yes, that's how a president talks about what's in his opinion the most important thing confronting our civilization.
I'm doing my part: I feel a kind of free floating angst. OK, now I don't have to worry about the wars any more.
What I don't understand is why the people (who are becoming fewer in number) who agree with the president on its importance are not signing up to fight, or at least signing up for the Reserves. I sure as hell would, if I agreed with their positions.
Cheney said that he had better things to do in the 60's then go to Vietnam (he kept getting draft deferments). I guess that view prevails among a lot of privileged war supporters.
