God loves "homos"? Does he love the sin as well?So are you perfectly fine with your child deciding to worship idols once he's done worshiping Santa and his mammon? You're saying that the beliefs of Muslim, atheists, idol worshipers, and Satanists are equally as valid as your own?

Stirring some shit with a BIG spoon

Passing over all the rest of the discussion in this thread for the moment, the original challenge is itself a straw man. The nature of the "unforgiveable sin" has been the subject of a lot of debate, but from the context it seems to have to do with believing that God is evil. Saying "I deny the Holy Spirit", or believing that God doesn't exist, doesn't seem to qualify. Furthermore, "unforgiveable" doesn't mean "permanent" - there's no reason to suppose that a person who gets good and evil round the wrong way can't change. The idea that committing the unforgiveable sin at some time leads to inevitable damnation regardless of anything is an interpretation they have brought to the text, and is not a necessary Christian belief.

> The idea that committing the unforgiveable sin at some time leads to inevitable damnation regardless of anything is an interpretation they have brought to the text, and is not a necessary Christian belief.
But the idea of damnation if you die before recanting is a fundamentalist Christian belief. What's the one and only way to obtain salvation, according to John and those guys?
-
The organisers seem to think that "unforgiveable" means "unrecantable" and putting your video up means you are inevitably damned.Fundamentalists don't have a uniform view of what is necessary or sufficient for salvation. Some indeed believe that salvation or otherwise is so predestined that it is totally independent of your actions.

It all seems to me that its a matter of what yur soul is worth, right now it would seem that its worth a dvd.I dont understand one thing though, The original challenge is to record this, post it and get a free DVD. The dvd is licensed so you can copy and distribute it free of charge to anyone you wish, I found that on the website of the RRS.but in order for you to get that dvd to begin with you have to do this "challenge" why give this DVD to people who already do not belive in the whole god thing anyways?Thier other campaign to give ti to people who are christians adn want to view it seems much more solidly based. All in all I dont get the point of converting those who belive to unbelivers, if enough were converted it may change the face of politics, maybe less bullshit in policeys that need tobe passed to uphold good christian things, but since they have no political objectives, according to the core memebers and co founders I talked to, I dont really get the point of the entire campaign.
-
I'm afraid it might be like other offers of free books or CDs or videos or DVDs - the thing offered is so awful that no-one would actually buy it.
-
according to several national magazines and critics its great, but cheasy special effects, thought provoking, blah blah blah. I will probaly end up going through with it because now Im too fucking curious about it to not and why spend 20 bucks or 30 or what ever it when I can get it for free ? since Im a non beliver, Im not risking anything, aside from being hunted down adn killed or maimed by murading christians that see my face on the video.
-
I think you take much greater risks in daily life, Chance.
-
I have, I do, and Im looking forward to new ones for all the stupid shit I do though I dont like my video posted for all to see, no matter what the content. Im ok with my pics splattered all over the net, clothed and unclothed, in various state of stupidity, I kinda like that actually. Im not sure why video bothers me.Like I said its pretty low risk from my POV, Ill end up doing it sooner or later, just becuase now I want to see that damned film ! Looks like i cant make any mastercard commercials where I end iwh my soul being pricless since it will be sold for a DVD + shipping and Handling.

This is from Mark, chapter 3:"22": And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, [Jesus] hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. "23": And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? "24": And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. "25": And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. "26": And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. "27": No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. "28": Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: "29": But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: "30": Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.________________________________________________________________By this we may see that the blasphemy Christ refers to is in giving Satan (instead of the Holy Spirit) the credit for casting out devils. Satan worshippers have something to worry about...but simply denying the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) doesn't get it done. In other words, these clowns couldn't even do the wrong thing right.

A quote from Mr. Thor.Quote:Bingo. But in order for this to happen, one must be willing to admit that there is more to learn before comming to a conclusion, and not close their minds to the possibilities that exist.I accept most possiblities. Have you closed your mind to the possiblities?
-
And I also accept more possibilities, as long as there is concomitant supporting evidence. Faith alone doesn't do it for me; then anything goes. So far science, which is self-correcting over time, is by far the best thing I've found to explain natural phenomena.
-
Nope.
-
As long as you maintain and open mind, sounds good to me.

When do you guys get tired of this shit and figure out it's really pointless to keep beating the same dead horse over and over again?
-
I personally don't think of it as pointless. Perhaps, among the discussies it is pointless... but if someone comes along, reads what has been said, and makes them think, then I think it was worthwhile. As far as getting tired of it... I enjoy a good debate and constructive conversation. I like to find out what other people think and share what I think. A lot of times, there is an exchange of ideas going on. To talk about such a thing helps you understand yourself and others just a little bit better... as long as you keep yourself constructive with it.
-
actually this wsnt the same horse, we started by beating a new lil philly. The price of yur soul and tactics to spread your word. This time it being the word of the athiests, or atleast a small group of them, in tryng to get people to seel thier soul for a DVD.
-
Quote:When do you guys get tired of this shit and figure out it's really pointless to keep beating the same dead horse over and over again? When? When the "Evangelical Christian" and "politics" are in completely separate domains. When Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and Lubavitch Jews stop knocking on my door or stopping me in the street and explaining to me that I'm going to hell because I don't believe their particular flavor of bullshit.I can live with being annoyed on the street, but I have zero tolerance for religious meddling in politics. It hasn't worked well for the Moslems who practice Sharia law, it didn't work well for medieval Europe, and it leads to very bad things in contemporary America. Religious fundamantalism is the mortal enemy of democracy. That's why I keep beating this horse that just won't die.

Welcome back Steve, but this thread had died a death, and it would be better if it stayed that way.

Haha, you're gone 2 weeks and there is actually a notable difference!! Welcome back, computer fixed?
