I am a 25 y/o man and my arms are very skinny. However I want to beef up my upper body and have larger biceps, like t-shirt muscles and a six-pack.But I am concerned that my arms cannot grow.I am NOT going to go to the gym for 2 years just to make my arms normal sized. Most other people go to the gym for 2 years and their arms would be the size of tree-trunks, but for me I fear I need about 2 years of solid weight lifting just to turn my arms from a skinny girl type into a normal adult man's type.If it is going to take this long then I cannot be bothered, tbh.I am lifting 4.5kg dumbbell at home, I do 12 reps on each arm then repeat 3 times (so that's 36 reps on each arm per workout) once per day.Nothing seems to be happening. I have been doing this for over a week now and no improvement can be seen. All that happens is that my back hurts, my chest hurts and my arms feel as though they are popping out of my shoulders. Please don't tell me that 4.5kg is too heavy for me. Any advice?

Can skinny arms become good sized?

I'm sorry, but if you don't want to hit the gym and do some serious lifting, then you aren't going to get the results that you want.

You have no clue what your doing.First off a week doesnt mean shit, results cant be seen in 7 days.second all thta your doing is 3 sets of 12 of one exercise, on one part of your body, you wont get results from that.Third, working the same muscle group every day? there is no time for them to recover, no time for them to grow and to repair so that the next time they get worked out they have something to build on.What about nutrition? what about the rest of your body? Youd look pretty fucking stupid if ya go a nice upper body and spindley legs, like a fucking frankenstiens moster, sew together from a mish mash of various parts. If your nto willing to put in the time and the disapline to get what you want then you dont want it very bad. Educate yourself on how to grow, proper nutrition, and proper exercises. In addition to all that, your not even working the right muscles. Biceps? pffffft Youll look like an ass if you did manage to grow them, the triceps make up 2/3 of yuor arm size, the entire arm has to be worked, and what about the shoulders? the pecs? the forarm?. Helms wrote something on these pages someplace, an over all guide to muscle gain, I cant recall the title or when it was posted. Start by finding that, then read through the fitness portions of this board, get some magazines, do some research online. Your efforts will lead to nothing, unless you find out how to get where you want.

Gym is a lifelong hobby, if you can't be bothered doing it for two years I suggest you give up now. So what if other guys get arms the size of tree trunks in two years? You think they work for two years, decide their arms are big enough and never go back to the gym? No way. Their arms would vanish instantly, or worse, gain a ton of fat.
Can you get strong arms in two years? With a proper diet, routine and enough rest you certainly can, but if you want to keep those arms you're going have to keep working for them.

I don't want to become a bodybuilder, I just want normal sized arms and t-shirt muscles.
I do not think it is acceptable to work in the gym for years and years just to turn my arms into something 'normal' sized. A couple of months, and maybe I would be bothered.
Some people's bodies do not respond to resistance training, and I am one of those people. My arms are simply not strong enough to lift weights, so my rate of growth is going to be 10x slower than a normal person.
For example, who would be better at lifting weights - a wrestler or a gymnast? Well, I am compaitive to a gymnast.
Why should I be happy with this? Why couldn't I have just grown normally like everyone else?
How much should I be lifting? Only 5kg dumbells I can lift at the moment, and they don't even make my arms feel any stronger...all they do is hurt my back and shoulders.
So really I cannot improve my arms because what I am lifting is not heavy enough, but I cannot lift anything heavier because I am not strong enough to do so.

Must be said that 4.5kgs is rather pissy to build any real muscle, i would almost certainly say u could do more. The key is pushing yourself to lift just that little bit more or getting that one extra rep in at the end to continuously push your body out of its comfort zone to promote growth. Once a day would be too frequent as you dont give ur muscles time to recover.I only goto the gym twice a week (sometimes 3), im getting bigger, stronger and fitter, you can start seeing gains pretty quickly from starting, especially on ur biceps but to move from there to get respectable muscles takes time. I would say after 2-3months you should be able to see a marked improvment on ur physique prior to working out.

Just keep going to the gym, trust me the self satisfaction you will get out of chaging your body is well worth it. You may not see results immediatly, but you will feel good, and your arms will feel pumped. However, don't forget triceps, they are the biggest muscles in the arm, and if your really looking for bigger arms, the tricep is what you need to focus on.

If you want to have buf arms then your goign to have to make the sacrifice, I'm 14 and I lift more then 4.3kg also you want to target not just your bicep's otherwise it will be really unbalanced and look awkward. Goign to the gym for two years won't make your arms tree trunks. you can usually ongly get to a certain size depending on what your building for, after that its just keeping it that way. If you want to be buff your goign to have to make some sacrifices if you dotn want to then dont bother, there is no magic bullet.

man if you want results get committed. i was 5-7 weighed around 115 to 120 two years ago and now im 5-10 and 160. thatw asnt just puberty tho. i hit the gym day after day to get big, and it definitely worked. my arms arent "big" by most standards but for someone with a small frame i put on lots of muscle. you need to go to the gym and lift everything, do machines, anything. you can train completely wrong for the first few months and you will still see progress, but you need to get to the gym first. once you go there then try stuff out. ask for help if you are confused then. if you decide to keep lifting a light weight a few times every day then good luck in life but i won't put in the effort to help if you don't.
