Hi I'm just wondering if when you donate blood, they check to see if you've used marijuana. I smoked last friday and theres a blood drive this thursday, and I just want to know if thats one of the things they check for. thanks

I'm in the US, so you guys are pretty sure that they wont check my blood (or if its even possible to check), for marijuana use? I know they can do urine tests, but I don't know if theres anything in the blood that they can also check. thanks

Well, I dont want to give blood and then have something wrong with it. I have never donated blood before so this will be my first time and I just want to clear this stuff up. Do you think that I should donate even though I smoked last friday? I'm not worried about someone finding out. I just don't want it to be rejected or something or find out that I cant even donate and then be embarassed.

They can test for marijuana in your system for about 30 days after you have done it. Personally if there are foreign chemicals in your body that cannot be good and if i were you i would seriously consider waiting until next time to give blood, they may ask if uve done any drugs at the time, if not it'll undoutedly come to light when they screen it after.
