keep eating healthy, drink lots of water, and work some cardio in while you're lifting weights

It's great you've taken some action. Try not to hit the scales everyday to measure up. Do it once/twice a week or somewhere thereabouts. The weights are good, however remember that muscle weighs more than fat. This means that if you build up muscle - you'll actually put on weight, even if you've lost some fat. This is why the scales sometimes aren't such a good idea, especially if you're weighing yourself every day.The best kinds of exercise for losing weight are say mid intensity (brisk walk/jog) types that you can do for sustained periods. The reason is that our bodies will use sugars for the energy source for short, high intensity activities. This means that if you go out for a sprint for 15 minutes, your body won't get much chance to burn fat. Take a brisk walk for an hour or so it'll do you much better. Also, don't forget to warm up with light exercise. This is great as it usually gets your body ready (not only to prevent injury due to lack of warm up) to burn fat. The first 15 minute warm up, your body will most likely use up some sugars, then when you begin your walk it'll be closer to fat burning mode.Don't quote me, but I think that sitting at about 80% of your max heart rate is a good HR for burning fat. Your max heart rate can be estimated by deducting your age from 220. This means that your max HR is 204. It's just a general guide, as I've had mine up to 245 and this is not uncommon for athletes etc.Keep well hydrated at all times - you'll be able to exercise for longer. Also, by the time your body feels thirsty you're already dehydrated. Sip at water during exercise and don't take huge gulps irregularly.Don't be upset if you don't see a huge change in your weight/appearance. The important thing is that you're doing something that's good for your body, you're more healthy, you'll have more energy and feel better all round! These are most important, rather than straight out looks.Keep a diary of how much exercise you do, what you do etc. Then, week by week try to increase the load and set goals for next month etc. It'll make it much more interesting and you'll have more to strive for. Not only that, but when you look back on the diary/schedule you'll know that you've achieved something - regardless of whether you're down to your goal of 160lb or not.I'll leave you with a post of mine from a thread a short while ago. It expels a few myths about burning fat. I hope this all helps. Post back with your progress and good luck!http://www.afraidtoask.com/forums/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=fitness&Number=111875&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&vc=1

I'm trying to get in shape too... Here is a tip I've heard. Don't even look at the scale.. Get rid of it.. It doesn't matter. MEASURE.. Measure yourself instead of weighing. That will show what you have done because like whats been said before, Muscle weighs more than fat! Good luck on it and let is know how it goes!

i know a way to work out ur back and arms and i think chest. stand straight up and put ur arms straight out to your side. then make little circles with your hands while moving your arms. do that for about 30 seconds, rotating your arms atleast one ful rotation or so. and then make big circles that are about lets say a foot and a half in diameter then do the same things but moving ur arms backwards witht he small circles then big circles. i hope that helps u cuz it helps me.

@.@ too tired to go through all the replies but I breezed through.
I share your problem =p first off, DO NOT categorize yourself as obese because of a BMI scale! they are wrong. BMI scaled go by government health standards. meaning even thin muscular celebs can be categorized as obese! I am glad to see you have taken action( i have aswell with great results!) I used to weigh 350! Now i'm down to 268, much more then you!(luckily i'm tall and my fat is spread evently =p so i dont appear overweight by much~)
In my short experience with my current diet, it's working GREAT. due to the fact i'm categorized as morbidly obese I had to lose weight quickly but healthily. Liquid diet is generally a short term one but it works wonders.
Morning: Health shake prepared at home, 2 fruits, non-fat milk( soy is even better), a multi-vitamin tablet(along with the shake not in it), and every once in awhile add in tofu ice cream for some extra flavor(vanilla is best also try with sugar substitute).
Afternoon: another shake, same as above with a salad/fruit salad
Dinner: a carb meal, i prefer italian foods with very little oil, something tasty but nothing to fatty( =p gotta make sure i say no cheese/little cheese) with a water.
Keep in mind you should be doing cardio excercises atleast once a day with this diet (and i also suggest half a recommended dose of a fiber pill with a non-calorie meal if youd prefer that)
after one month you want to stabilize your current weight by cutitng down ont he shakes and going back to normal(but sitll healthy foods), 3 weeks of that if you have gained back 1-5 lbs dont fret! thats fine, go back to the shakes now with the one whole meal a day. Once you get down to your target weight(which isnt that far off for you! =D) you should start doing muscle building workouts, and you will see a boost in energy(hoping your metabolism is higher at this point)
I wouldnt recommend metabolism supplements, or any other kind for that matter, they are potentially dangerous. =p lucky for me i can get back on my diet now that im out of the hospital and away from the murderous doctor ._.; I wish you the best of luck( but if i didnt say it already, see a nutritionist and ask them if a partial liquid diet is for you. also remember that whatever they recommend, you dnt have to do, because it may not work.) andone other thing! I and strongly against anything that supresses ones appetite, they also cut down on energy, and are VERY dangerous(its why i was in the hospital!)
