My mum is a 47yr old, mother of three, has a full time job and is a cyclist and not too long ago she desided she was going to do this years Ironman Triathalon (3.8km swim,180km cycle and 42.2km run)But this isn't the only reason I'm proud of her.During her 2nd lap of the cycle, while swerving to avoid a drinkbottle on the road, she came off her bike onto the road. She suffered a deep gash to her upper lip, deep grazes to her elbow, knees, thigh and hand. She also broke and knocked out her two frount teeth. My mum got back on her bike and rode off again to the transition point to do the marathon portion of the event. She walked into the medical tent there and the 1st thing she said to the doctor was that she was going to finnish the Ironman. He told her she was going to need stitches in her lip. She asked if it could wait till after the run. He said to her later that he was afriad that if he tryed to stop her finnished shed hit him.The medic mopped up some of the blood on her face and she headed off to run the marathon ater coming off her bike, swallowing alot of blood, splitting her lip open and loosing two teeth. By this time quite afue of the spectators and ironman staff had hurd about her and she got alot of cheers and support as she was running. She finnished the Ironman in just over 14hours (cut off is 16hours) looking and absolute mess and was rushed to the medics just after she crossed the finnishline.I'm so proud of my mum for having the guts to finnish the Ironman and the determination to keep ongoing. I love my mum!
