Alright, I'm probably going to take apart an old microwave oven and fool around with the magnetron in side of it.I know the health risks, and I don't care if I damage it, it's old. Im probably going to get a piece of glass a put it on the output part of the magnetron so i can focus the electron beam onto something. Anybody have an expirimental suggestions for me? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm back! Microwaves.

Nice to see you back, Zach! Are you aware of the cataract risk? The eyeball is particularly sensitive to the heating effects, and the lens goes opaque.Magnetrons produce a beam of microwaves, not electrons. I don't know whether you'll get much focussing effect from glass - it depends on the dielectric constant at the relevant frequency. For experiments, may I direct your attention to http://margo.student.utwente.nl/el/microwave/ and http://jnaudin.free.fr/html/oa_plasmoid.htm. The plasmoid in the second one is fascinating.

No, it has an electron gun inside it. Then it uses the magnets to send them around, and they give off microwaves. At least, I think that's how it happens. Anyway, chances are you'll hurt yourself doing something like this, so good luck!

damn, microwaves are funky! not sure if I should try that stuff with our new microwave though. I know some people who exploded an egg in a microwave too - not smart.
-
Yay, I did it. I took the magnetron out, and fucked with it about, and I heard that if you turn it on yourself when sleeping, it will cure future diseases, so I made a cord so it hangs from my ceiling and every night it's switched on. I suggest all of you to do this, it makes me feel great.

really?
-
Yes, jordan69, you should do it, all the kids at my school are; it's a fad that I started .
-
Zach is pulling your leg, jordan69. They make ovens automatically turn off when you open them, for a good reason.
-
oh haha. My word, yes, what fun you have trying to make people irradiate themselves sigh
-
What burning down houses? But I think he was referring to microwave ovens. They DO turn off when opened.
-
In reply to: I've actually been guilty of that quite a few times. leaving your oven on or burning down houses cuz of it?? cuz i'm thinking u meant leaving ur oven on.
-
I was talking of microwave ovens, albeitmyself - I should have been more specific. You are probably thinking of conventional ovens.

Welcome back Zach!
