Hi Guys,Here in Australia's southern half we are currently experiencing the worst drought in our short 250 year odd historyAs of next month we will no longer be allowed to water outside gardensMany of our regional country towns have now run out of drinking water via the fawcett and are now haveing drinking water brought in by tanker for rationingThe farming sector is in crisisIf the drought continues this situation may well extend to capitol citiesIn the tropical north of Queensland we have record flooding, monsoons and cyclone activityI read yesterday that Tokyo, for the first time in its LONG history, has just had its first winter without snowfall at allWe are all aware of the global warming debateI've really OD'd on itWhat I would REALLY like to know, is what do you think is happening in your corner of the world? What is YOUR gut feelingI would really appreciate an input from as wide a range of the globe as is possibleRegardsGregPS. Admins and Mods......If this post could be granted a temporary 'sticky' status I would appreciateIt's a BIG deal

Hows the Weather ?
-
Well here in Ohio, we started out on a warmer than normal winter, but about a month or so ago we got slammed by snow and the typical cold weather. Since than, it’s been pretty cold, if not bitterly cold. Supposedly as of next week thought we are to warm back up some, into the 50 degrees mark.

over my way (newfoundland) our weather is getting really weird. our winters are usually REALLY long with a lot of snow, but this year and last year, winter started later. and it only just started snowing heavy since late febuary. usually its around christmas... last year our spring started in late march!! thats REALLY early for us. usually its a least middle april before its nice out. and our summers are REALLY hot. not like that a few years back. things are changing, and i dont like it. its really frightening.

There has been a noticeable trend in the last 10 to 15 years here in Oklahoma of much milder winters. It used to be that it was not uncommon for there to be lows, out on the prairie at least, that would be well below zero (Fahrenheit). While it wasn't an everyday occurrence you could count on chopping 8 to 12 inch ice for cattle most of January and February. Those days seem to be long gone. The rain fall has been pretty sparse as well. Rather than the ponds being full at the beginning of summer and empty by the end, they're starting summer empty or at least extremely low. For about the last three or four years (maybe more) the only ponds that had water by the end of June were the spring fed ponds. While the total amount of precip. we receive seems to be waining the bigger problem has been that when we get it has changed, at least that's a bigger problem for farmers and ranchers.

The weather in Ireland is shit... but thats not really any different than usual. But our weather has been gettting a lot worse, last year we had a tornado for the first time in recorded history! 10 of the past 15 years have been the hottest since MetÉirann started recording the country's temperature over 120 years ago. We've been getting storms that are bordering on Hurricane level.Yeah, we've noticed a thing or two.I was reading an article in the paper yesterday, it mentioned that the Asian Haze, the massive polution emitted by Asia, is a massive factor in the world's weather problems.
-
it's freezing.... it's only a matter of time before we boycott the weather man...
-
Fuck spring, give me summer and temps between 90 and 105 and then Ill be happy.
-
I'm not sure if it quite made it to 80 here today, but it will at least for the next few days. By the beginning of March, it's pretty much summertime.
-
jealous...
-
There's been very little snow here all winter and the temp has been very mild up until this week. Now it's freakishly cold. So much for a beautiful New England winter...
-
It was -4F here a couple days ago; now it's 20F, little bit of snow.

I went to college in Syracuse, NY, where it snowed too much, so I moved to Nashua when I graduated. Didn't exactly solve the problem, but it helped. I remember in the winter Manchester, where I lived, was often a lot colder than Peabody, MA, where I worked. I solved that problem by moving to Peabody. Then I did the open water scuba qualification off Rockport, in the middle of the summer, and it was a lot colder than the water in Miami in the middle of the winter. I solved that problem by moving (back) to Miami. Now I'm thinking that Maui (at least the Kehei area) is sometimes warmer in the winter...

in new york what happened was that is snowed ALOT but the freezing temperature froze the snow into ice. hten it snowed again so now there's snow covering huge blocks of ice everywhere. and coming home from school I saw this business guy looking so fly his shadow was gleaming. he went to cross the street and when he stepped on what seemed to be a snowy pathway he flew so high in the air I almost died from laughter. I mean suitcase and all. I wish I had a camera lol. that's been happening alot around here. people running to catch cabs... slamming into cabs face first lol and there was this one cop going to arrest this kid and he slipped on a deceiving patch of snow fell on his stomach and the kid ran off. ridiculous

Today was 52, thats up from the 20's last week, Saturday is supposed to be in the low to mid 60's.Summer here its normal to run around 90 to 105.Im rpetty comfortable at those temps. I enjoyed vegas a few years abck when people were dying from heat. I got out of bed, looked out my window at Polo Towers, the sign across te strip said 113. I put on shorts and a tank top, hit the bar in the casino a few buildings down (new york new york) and went for a walk along the strip to Circus Circus. I think I was te only one not sweating and dying. The drink may of helped, it was a gian fucking slushy in a statue of liberty cup, a fruity fucking bunch of shit with tequilla. This was pre meico drunk on to killa sick trip, I was OK to drink it then. I watched people jump out of cabs and be soaked before they got to the doors of the various casinos. I dont recall sweating hardly at all that entire trip, and alot of it was outside. I do recall needing some water after i got off the big shot on top of the stratosphere, but that urge went away with a couple of white russians before I started walking back down teh strip to hit the Luxor. Thats a long fucking walk from stratosphere to Luxor, especially with as much as Id drank by then.

Redding gets hot like that! But it is more humid here. Salt Lake was a walk in the park when it was hot. I bet Vegas would be too.
-
Its that difference n humidity that makes it better here when its hot.San Diego didnt strike me asbeing too bad when it was hot there and I was visiting. Arizon I was hot, but not dieing ass hot when i was outside Yuma in the cliffs and the temp was hovering around 120.could climb, too fucking hot to touch the rock face for that, but air wise I was uncomfortable, but not in serious need of a fucking rest and some A/C.Oklafuckinghoma is a bitch.I got out of the car and could instantly feel the air pushing down on my ass as I stepped from the air conditioned car in Oklahoma city. It was shitty at the will rodgers turn pike at that fucking Mc Donalds on the freeway, but not like it was further along the road later that day. In Missouri I was fucking hot and thinking Id die while flaoting down teh god damned river, in the water after going into some caves and just wading out in teh water to float back to the car. Fucking cotton mouths there too, caca.

I don't have a TV, but I did get to watch some of the weather channel when I visited my parents over the holidays. My dad was watching it and all I hear about is global warming and the things people are doing to "go green". They said something about Wal-Mart going green and I thought was very interesting.
Though, you'll be surprised at how many people are ill-informed of the global problems we're going to face in the near future if things continue the way they are. If someone gets onto this site, reads this post, and talks about it to two people and they talk to two people... then it was all worth it.

On a world wide level, most of us have really lost our natural way and it's sad. Most of us don't know how to live in harmony with the Earth anymore. What WE ARE DOING is showing that we sure know how to unbalance everything from its natural state of being. All of a sudden, everything has become an unnatural death system. What is that? We plant trees in rows and rows only to be cut down at a certain life span. Or why not just cut down those trees over there that have been untouched for centuries? They'll make great happy meal boxes. We breed and grow cows and kill them in the thousands everyday. Chickens are probably even worse. One day they're born and something like 45 days later they're getting killed and being prepared to get packaged. What balance is this? Even the fruits and vegetables we get out of the store isn't healthy anymore. We grow them with herbicides and pesticides and "super soil". *sigh*
Like I said... society is broken. Perhaps one day in the near future, mother nature will get the best of us. We will pollute our Earth so much that someway, mother nature will find a way to kill off the overgrown human population. Perhaps an ice age catalyst by our own ignorance. Or perhaps most of our civilizations will be covered by water. Most people seem to care less about nature and our world these days.
This is a part of my rant that touches on the subject at hand. I took these quotes from my posts in this thread
