Actually the original Catholic tradition was to not eat meat on any Friday, then it got demoted to just Good Friday, and now nobody really cares.

Happy Palm Sunday!

Some sort of celebration, probably alcoholic, of the arrival of spring must go back to prehistory - certainly older than Socrates, who was not the sort of person to institute a new drinking festival.Easter was set by the early church in spring partly for the symbolism, but also so it was easier for communities to turn Christian, because they wouldn't miss their traditional festivals. (For the same reason Christmas was set at the winter solstice, another traditional time for a festival.)A break in education at around this time has a long history also. The only one of those Net histories cited for the US-style spring break that has any credibility, I think, is the ocregister.com one. The others are tongue-in-cheek.

ooo i see thank you
yeah i know, i said there credibility was sketchy at best

'Well yes it's a tradition for Catholics, that we are not to eat meat on Good Friday'But I still can't work out what is this tradition based onA directive from God?From Jesus Christ?

I have a very wide taste in music. The only thing I really avoid is fucking disco, and (c)rap.

-
what do you think of then mr.u? if you dont think of it for easter?!?!?
-
well... I think of ham at easterbut spring in general makes me think of girls and cars... and I just bought a brand new car
-
I dont know many people who arent having turkey
-
we did the ham. Actually, my mom (bless her heart) ordered a real hame from Brady's in Waterloo... could have fed an army with this thing! It was awsome though. So much better than those formed paste things that are all the same size and shape that Scheiders make.
-
Mm My parents once got a honey ham from this place on hespler rd... right next to pipeline.. Im not a big pork eatter! But it was good!
-
think I heard of that place. Someone told me to go there to order a "spiral cut" ham. I'm still not sure what that is (yes, me the meat expert, embarassing) but I hear they are damn expensive.

Worth every cent!
