I just bought the game DDR with the mindset that I can now burn calories while playing a game, how great. Im curious as to how effective it would be if I played the game for say, an hour a day. Would I lose weight and would my legs begin to look more "in shape"?

I have no idea. maybe. i dont think your legs would really look more in shape. but it would almsot definitely help out with cardio vascular, and breathing.

there's a mode you play(called workout mode) that counts the calories you've burned while playing. From what I've heard though you have to play a LOT to actually lose a significant amount of weight

yeah... you can lose weight from DDR, and you legs will gain muscle.. you will most likely just burn off some fat and because of the muscle you'll be getting in your legs (assuming you do DDR a lot, especially on higher levels) your weight won't fluctuate a whole lot though...I only lost a few lbs (5 or so), but my lean muscle mass definately went up because of my legs.. but my boyfriend actually lost about 30 in almost 2 months doing 2 hours a day on expert mode... so i guess it depends on the person..either way, its a lot of fun, and is a great cariovascular workout.

It also depends on the mode, like expert, if you can do it, will make you more fit than the easiest mode.

I'm no DDR expert, but from what I've seen if you combined that with a good diet you could lose some serious weight. I'm guessing you guys lost all that weight from just playing and still eating junk, if you ate correctly too you'd shed the pounds.

I play DDR quite alot, and that alone won't help you lose weight. You must eat right and stay active throughout as much of the day as you can.
DDR is fun, but don't rely on it to be your trainer.
