For most of my life I've been a jeans, T-Shirt and cat boots girl ... but now I've grown up a bit I see kids my own age looking really nice in 'cool' clothes ... I'm head-and-shoulders taller than kids my age and I'm chunky too and sorta overweight, but I want to start wearing things my friends would wear ... but my mom just wont let me. I look around in the charity shops for nice stuff but the things i like she finds tastless or doesn't approve of. I'm getting fed up and I just feel it's unfair. It's not the type of thing I could talk to her about either ... I guess I just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening!

Do you actually like the 'cool' clothes better, or do you want them just cause your friends have them? I dunno, she is your parent and until you're 18 she's allowed to regulate what you go out the house in, and it's not that bad of a thing that you have a mom who wants to make sure you look decent when you leave the house.

Yeh, be yourself. If you feel good in what your wearing why wear clothes your uncomfortable in.Your 14 or thereabouts right? Parents dont like to see their children grow up but give her a reality check that your not her little girl as such any more and that you are becoming a young adult.I would try to compromise on the clothes, just because it shows a lot of flesh or whatever doesent mean its sexy.

Okay, first off it's not coz I want to fit in ... I just like the clothes ... it's things like flared jeans and t-shirts with patterns.
I prefer goth-ish gear anyway so I'm never going to fit in fashion-wise.
Secondly I never asked for clothes before ... it's usually my mom yelling at me to get some jeans that aren't holey or damaged.
Yes, finances aren't exactly tip-top atm, but I was looking more at the 99p section of charity shops rather than highest line fashion.
Also I don't want to look sexy ... I'm too overweight and the most I like to show is my arms (bar when I'm swimming).
I wear boots not because I want to but because I have awkward feet ... I have incredibly high arches on my feet, so shoes are a rwal struggle for me. I also take size 8 boots.
Oh, and finally I'm a large girl who is so big I have to have a 32 inside leg :smirk: and a lot of tops rid up my back unless I have men's, hence the plain T-shirts.
Edit; sorry for typos, Im using my handheld computer from bed - LOL

Wow, what is her deal with flared jeans and t-shirts with patterns?
