I'm 22 now and I had my first period when I was about 11. It has always been irregular, starting days ealier than the last month or happening days later. It's even been weeks apart. I just want a predictable period, I hate being surprised. I wished I never had a period. Anyway does anyone know of why it's still irregular or do I still have a while to go before I can expect a predictable cycle? I don't want to go on birth control pills.

Irregular Cycle

Do you often change or eating and exercise habits? That could be the cause of the irregularities, and birth control is the only way I know that will even it out for you. =/

The only exercise I've been doing is walking and I've always done that. I eat the same way, nothings changed in a long time.

I've never been to a gynocologist, I don't have much money or insurance.Well I don't like taking medication and I don't want to take birth control pills unless I plan on having sex regularly and don't want to get pregnant. An irregular cycle doesn't seem like a good enough reason right now.

You really should see a gyno. Girls should start getting pap smears around the time they start their periods, and keep getting them yearly.Go to planned parenthood, they are cheaper and confidential. Then you can talk to a doctor and find out some of these questions from a professional. Good luck!

If you don't have enough money to see a doctor, then you need to at least go check out your local health clinic. Irregular periods can be caused by a number of things, but for your own well being you need to get it checked out.
