OK so I was just circumcised three days ago at the age of 19 (my foreksin wouldnt go back during erection). No bandaging or dressing was applied, although I moisturize with vaseline everyday. The doctor had never asked what kind of circumcision I wanted (high/low, tight/loose) so I figured he would just make the determination. However, I had always felt that my frenulum was a little short and told him that I wanted that to be cut (thats the only thing I said regarding my circumcision). There was quite a bit of bleeding after and it is now all scabbed up around the incision line and where the frenulum was. There is definetly stitches at the back along where the frenulum was also. However, my problem lies with the piece of frenulum that remains. A piece of the frenulum sticks OUT of the underside of my penis. The piece stems from the tip of the penis (where the piss comes out...dont know what else to call it) and travels to the underside of my penis (sticks out just as the glans ends) , where there is a protruding line (sticks out from the rest of the penis) of skin/scab/stitch formation. This looks extremely weird and have never seen anybody with a circumcised penis have a piece of the frenulum sticking out. What is up with that? Is this piece eventually going to heal onto the underside of the penis and not stick out? How long does that take?I has only been 3 days so I am banking on that this will heal differently as time goes on. Otherwise, I would rather go in and have another operation than have it look like this. It is really hard to explain what it looks like. Am i allowed to post a picture on here?Thank you for your help!

What is this thing coming off my penis?

You'll probably have to talk to the doctor about it, though I'm not impressed that he didn't talk to you more before the operation. We discourage pictures unless they are really necessary, in which case they should be presented as a link only, and cropped as much as possible. In this case I'm not sure it would help.

the doctor did not give me a follow-up appt. and i cant see him until july (3 months away!). That's why im very worried and resorting to posting this cuz i just want to make sure this is normal (im really hoping it is...). So for anyone that has been circumcised as a teen or adult and anyone in a medical profession, i would apreciate your help. If you need a picture I will post it if it helps better explain what is going on (tho I do not know how to set it up through a link).

When you reply to a message, there are options. The bar right across where you type, the first one is a link option. You will need to up load a photo to something like photo bucket, then copy the link to the box. If you delete the picture, it will delete the link too, so if you get your question answered, you can "hide" it.Also, you REALLY should talk to your Dr. AND I would give it some time to heal.I wish I could find it, but there is a post about a circumcision that someone had done at an older age, it talked about the healing process. But it did not talk about the frenelum being cut though (as I recall).

Alright, these links show what i am trying to explain. Warning: the pictures are not pretty! You will notice the piece of frenulum sticking out (along with a stitched up protruding skin along the underside). These are all pictures of my penis about 64 hours after the circumcision (over 3 days). circ1 circ2 circ3circ5 circ6 circ7 circ4

The piece looks very inflammed, but I don't think it'll go away on it's own...time to bitch to the doc.

I agree.

awe, It's cute!I would have the doctor take a look at it and tell you what it is. When is your follow-up appointment?

lol i wasnt given a followup appt but i called the doctor today and he said that my frenulum was not cut (even tho i told him to do that). i said i was worried that frenulum would be too tight but he said that it would not be a problem (why - did he cut it partially? or did he just figure it would be fine?...probly should have asked those questions lol). im still confused as to whats going on! so im GUESSING that the frenulum was partially cut or something/loosened somehow i dunno. can anyone tell from those pictures? why is there so much stitching and scabbing if the frenulum wasnt cut? is it better to have the frenulum then not? will it make a difference for my sex life? do girls like it better when the frenulum is left there/is it more appealing? what if i find that i dont like the frenulum/partial frenulum, can i get it removed? will it look really odd since ive had two procedures on it? so many questions lol...the earliest i can get appt with him is july so u guys r my only hope to get them answered lol

Since the frenulum goes between the penis head and the foreskin, it has to be cut to remove the foreskin, and its being too short should no longer be a problem. It seems, though, that your doctor hasn't trimmed it back as is usual. Perhaps he thinks that is better because you'll get more sensation from it.It should be possible to get it removed in a second procedure if you don't like it.

One thing I've learned...never tell a man his penis is cute rotfl
-
I don't think it looks that bad... Why do you think it's bad?Also...if you get that bit cut off you will probably lose a lot of sensation.

I'm terribly sorry that you didn't find us in time and that your doctor -- apparently -- didn't offer either alternative treatments or information about proper care. As much as it's a matter of spoilt milk, a tight frenulum could have been relieved with cutting just it (if we're talking about surgeries), and a foreskin that can go back except during erection is not whatsoever an indication for a required circumcision -- bit instead could have been solved by other means. That aside, I support the idea that it is just simply swollen as a result of the operation and there's nothing wrong with it (other than the obvious), and that it's likely to start looking less silly as it continues healing. Tightness should not be a concern as there's little left of what it could be tight with. People warning about possible loss of sensation from the removal of the frenulum have a point, there are a lot of nerves going there (and in the foreskin that was removed), so if anything, I wouldn't trust someone as careless as the doc who didn't give a single instruction on the care of the wound or anything, with the job of messing in that area.Have a good and fast healing.

Dear ralesk, your reply is to this thread is condescending and full of assumptions.
