How is it possible for a group of people roughly...50 who only know one.. two... three languages tops being English, Spanish, and French suddenly begin to all speak in a different language from each other from the Hebrew language of the Jews to the language of Koreans at a speed that the mind can't comprehend? What do you guys think could cause this?
-
Your explanation
-
not much to go around here, but i think it could simply be showing off? trying to portrayed something they aren't? or are you getting to something paranormal?
-
Lol, go ahead and call me stupid but I had a bit trouble trying to understand your post. :scream_cat: But I think your main question is how can people know so many different languages, right?
Well, I believe it depends on various things, like where they were born, or to gain more skills and be versatile, or have an interest in other cultures. Like me, for example, I speak English because I was born and raised in the United States. I'm Mexican, so I also know a bit of Spanish. Reason why I'm not fluent in Spanish is because I didn't speak it as often as I should have. Plus, I suck at it and it's such a horrible stigma.
I love Japanese culture and that's why I can speak Japanese. I am probably the most Japanese Mexican out there, lol. My school offers many different language classes and I was happy that Japanese was one of them. To me, learning a different language is fun and helps you be a bit more multi-cultural. If I wasn't so busy, I would love to learn another one, like German or Russian or take my Japanese even further (I only went up to Japanese 103).
-
but I mean... if nobody knew any other language except English or French or Spanish and just all of a sudden from out of nowhere every single one of those 50 people were speaking in a different language and they had no control over it.VIrtual Star you should go to Japan. I fell in love, but I'm not as crazy over it anymore since I finally went lol
-
Well, it offers up a few questions:
Was the group alone? Because if this group of 50, who know only English, Spanish and French, were actually alone when this happened, then who recognised all the different languages? Not many people can recognise Korean if they know nothing about it. In a situation like that you could start babbling on with random sounds and nobody would be able to argue with you if you said it was Dutch!
If this happened in a larger group, like in a large evangelical event, then my natural instinct is that it was staged. This isn't anything to say against Christianity, it is a known fact that some of the biggest evangelical preachers out there use tactics like that. Some of them do it because they're frauds, and some do it because it makes people believe, so the end justifies the means. Which is why some Christians are willing to be stooges, they're willing to act for the preacher so that more people believe or those who already believe have their belief strengthened, because they honestly think that they are doing more good than harm.

The Tower of Babel, my dear. Mere Mortals trying to mix it up with Celestial beings, creating confusion brought on by their own need to own the world. Down we go.
-
reminds me of what the pentacoastals do. what is your explanation?
-
Agreed. =/
-
reminds me of what the pentacoastals do. what is your explanation?----------------------------------------I don't know really. I mean... I have an answer but you guys wouldn't believe it so I wouldn't even try. the thing is though, I've heard people speak German before, Russian, Hewbrew, and the language of the natives in Zimbabwe. and you could tell it was the language because there are alot of diverse people. but, my friend spoke Portuguese before and she's French. she doesn't know anything about Brazil or Portugal. and yet she spoke it, and I understood her. she was just as freaked out as I was. I don't know... it's just a very odd thing. but very cool in most aspects. My friend Liz is Korean and I spoke Korean before. I'm trying to study this "phenomenon" and get more into it so I can understand it better.
-
Oh, please do give us your answer. If you saw complete strangers do it or if it was just a story you heard, then it obviously can't be taken seriously. But if its something that you have experienced personally, well then both of my explanations are completely invalid.
I'm really quite interested in your view.
-
I have experienced it with people I've known for years, but it's ridiculous I don't think you'd find it believable lol. last time I mentioned it on here they thought I was lying but hey, what are you gonna do. that's why I don't mention it much on here so "that" doesn't start again. and I wanted to see what you guys thought it might be. but unfortunately it doesn't fit in to what I've experienced so... kinda doesn't help lol
-
Well personally, I'm stumped! If you're asking us for an explanation why/how you were able to do it, then I don't know many people that can explain it.
The only explanation that borders on plausable is maybe hypnosis? Not that someone put the languages into your head, but that they put the suggestion in your mind that you were speaking another language and that others were too.
-
The problem is that you're assuming there can be only natural explanations. That's a problem I have frequently. There are a lot of things (even some that we all agree on) that cannot be explained "naturally" or scientifically.Abi, I know the answer to your question. But at the risk of starting a battle I'll just say that I agree with the answer you've probably already got bouncing around in your beautiful brain. And I'm not a Pentacostal.
-
Well obviously I'm not gonna mention the paranormal explanations, cause then you guys would win!
-
Hands down, Bubba!
-
Well atleast I'm trying to come up with reasonable explanations instead of just saying "Oh, they're faking it. Stupid God people!"
-
gracias Damien. you know I love you lol

no one can spontaneously learn a real languageshit, I can speak in tongues... watchxzcvd rtghfstb asjd birtb afd alsgbbsd grtshidksdnsaq0099dfgg asdffsgbd obvoiusly, god is speaking to me, through methat would be the only plausible expalnation.oh wait... just had an apifany.
