Physically, no one can tell if you are having sex or not. The hymen can rupture during sports, exercise, or through masturbation. However, hiding the fact that you are sexually active from your gynecologist isn't the best thing to do and it's important that they do know. You must be open and honest because this is for the sake of your health. S/He may ask you questions about your sexual health so s/he can know if there is anything wrong with you, if any problems. Most practitioners respect your privacy and usually keep that information confidential. Check the doctor's policy, but please be honest. What IF your test says you have an infection or something? Then they will know. It's best to be honest upfront.Originally Posted By: kaykay08can the doctor tell if your a virgin or not? && does it hurt? please help...I just found this. You didn't have to post the same question twice. But anyway, having a pap smear is not painful, just a bit uncomfortable. The gynecologist is going to take a swab and touch your cervix, so it can feel a bit arkward and uncomfortable. And when your gynecologist inserts the speculum, you're going to feel some pressure.

Ummm... If she wants you to get a PAP smear **AND **get on birth control.. don't you think she might already suspect that you are having sex?

So you might as well come clean when you see the gynecologist.

your mom doesn't have to go in the room with you. for me there are usually enough ppl in there when i'm in the stirrups (nurse and a doc looking at my stuff) if you ask your doc not to say anything to your mom - then she shouldn't - most docs won'talso if you can try to relax during the exam it will make it easier. if you tense up then yeah it might hurt a little bit. the first one is always weird. try to think of a 'happy place' and 'stay there' during the exam. i've been getting pap's for ten years and still go to my happy place during.
