Ok I noticed a strange sensation in my testicles and penis and went to two different urologists. Both stated that hernia or testicular cancer were not present. One claimed that because I go to the gym regularly that I may have strained the tiny muscle fibers and nerve endings in the genital area which was responsible for this sensation. It was not a pain but merely a loose feeling scrotum and my testicles were feeling sort of condensed. I took his advice and began wearing a jockstrap and not straining when lifting.Within the past few weeks I have noticed a significant drop off of erections and when I do get one they last for a brief period of time. I have decided not to return to the gym until I get to the bottom of this. I also have been feeling depressed for quite awhile and I was wondering if this had anything to do with it. I can still force myself into getting an erection, and when I wake up 75% of the time I will get one for a few moments. I am 19 so I am very upset and frustrated by this. I have stopped masturbating because I have researched this and perhaps overmasturbation and depression are the true culprits.Any insight on this is greatly appreciated.

Erections and Weightlifting problem?

Quote:I also have been feeling depressed for quite awhile Any new medication or other changes in your life? The jockstrap should be helpful in other ways, though I fail to see the connection with loss of erection. Are you feeling horny otherwise?

I would guess it's depression and anxiety rather than the gym.

I am concerned because I have been to my GP, an internal specialist and two different urologists. Should I ask for an ultrasound or testosterone level check or something?I can't really tell regarding my libido it seems to have gone down considerably but it might be because of the erectile issue. I don't know what to do at this point its extremely frustrating and confusing.

I, like Ineligible, tend to suspect the anxiety and depression. Have you actually been diagnosed with depression? Unless you're in a relationship with a need to have sex regularly, I'd probably just forget about it and go on with my life and see if things improve on their own. Sometimes obsessing about a problem only makes it worse. Even if you are in a relationship, she'd probably be understanding and patient with you if you'd let her. It's possible the your testosterone level is low. I'm surprised tghat the doctors didn't suggest a test to rule that out.

Not in a relationship right now. But I am definitely depressed haven't technically been labeled "depressed" by a Dr. though.I went to the Dr. and Urologists because my testicles felt abnormal like condensed, almost like they were shrinking. They did blood work for a lot of things, I don't think test. levels were one of them, I could be wrong.Physically I am capable of getting an erection, but they tend to be weaker than usual and only come rarely or when I manually force one. I can still ejaculate normally. If I get treatment for depression is this likely to clear up?

Low testosterone levels can cause depression, so you should ask your doctor if that was checked. Some of the antidepressant drugs themselves can depress libido and make it harder to get hard, so you should discuss that with your doctor. There are several antidepressants now that don't have that effect.I suspect anxiety is a very significant factor. Antidepressants can reduce anxiety, and there is also specific anti-anxiety medication.

Thanks so much I'll get that looked at.
One more question, does the blood that flows into the shaft come from the area where the PC muscle is found? That seems to be the physical issue. It feels like that muscle and area is not pumping I want to say properly.

Right Urologist was for the genital problems thanks for the advice everyone.

I actually had this exact same problem. I would get that same non-painful sensation after playing tennis for a few hours. I'm pretty sure it is just stress/depression because whenever I work out or play a sport that I don't really care about, I never get that sensation no matter how hard I push myself.

It seems like my left testicle shrinks smaller than the right throughout the day.
I am going to assume its something to do with depression and continue my regular workout for the next week or so. I just started school so hopefully it will help reduce my depression. I will then take a good week off of weightlifting, then if theres still no improvement go back to the Dr.

I felt a very sharp pain last night while working out. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with epidydidimitis (spelling?) and calcifying on the right side of my testicles.I am on 10 days of Doxycylne and got a shot in the butt of it last night.I am going back to the urologist for a reevaluation. The antibiotics have already given me some relief.

Thanks for the update! It seems I was wrong again! (Perhaps if more people gave updates I'd be shown to be wrong a lot more.)
I hope it's all back to normal soon!

Believe me, you were way closer than 3-4 Doctors that actually did a physical examination! I can't believe that this was not diagnosed properly after going to two specialists, one GP, and an internal specialist. Except for an upset stomach and what not, I feel way better. The erections are returning to normal and my libido is kicked into hyper drive! Thanks for all the help everyone. When in doubt always get a second or third or fourth or in my case fifth opinion.

Glad to hear you got an answer to your problem. I guess I was wrong too, but I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV.Even gladder that your libido is back!

Im not a fan of GPs. Ther is one here who killed a friend of mine. He saw her for 3 months when he had "strep Throat" and couldnt get over it. Finally he ended up in an ER and was found to have lymph cancer. Im Ok witha gp for a physical or even strep throat, but if it just goes on and on or if its a serious problem to begin with your much better off to see a specialist. the shtis about them is that it normally takes a reccomendation or refferal from someone to get into see them.In your case the specailist missed it too.
