Is it possible to improve your ability to explain things? Whenever I go to try and explain something to someone, all my thoughts come out really unorganized and I can't think of what order to put them in and it ends up not making any sense. It's so frustrating! I have ADD for those that don't know, so I know I am unorganized by nature, but I can't say I know anyone with AD(H)D who is this bad. A friend once asked me for help with some computer science program and I tried to tell her how to solve a small problem(for what it's worth, assigning ranks to a list of numbers), even took a good 20 minutes thinking about it and afterwards asked if it made sense to her and she said no. When it's not a problem with organization, it's not being able to come up with the right word for what I want to say. Like, I know what it is I want to say in my head but the word for what I'm trying to describe won't come to me so I have to use another word that usually means the same thing, but sometimes ends up throwing people off.So is there anything I can do about this or am I stuck with it?

My GF has the same problem. She has a hard time explaining things. I just help her pronouncing certain words and breaking down a word or sentence to their most root meaning.."what are you trying to convey?"Simple ideas is the key. If you find the perfect word, then there's no need for mumbo jumbo and repetition of the same things over and over with different words, but you definitely have to have simple -to- understand words that get straight to the point and leave no room for question. Give yourself 3-5 key words you're gonna use before you even open your mouth.

I think it happens to most people, sometimes i'll be talking and the word im looking for completely dissappears, or i may be explaining something and my mind goes a blank. My advice as already said, Relax, slow down, give your head more time to think about it. Communication is a skill that takes a lifetime to master.
