So yea I'm pretty pissed off right now.I used to have an overbite and so I got braces to correct it from grades 8-11 (4 years). After the braces came off, my jaw grew, so now i have an underbite, and the orthodontist says i'll probably need to put braces put back on and possibly have jaw surgery to correct that. The bitch of the situation is that had i not had any braces to begin with i would never have had a problem, because my jaw growth would have naturally corrected the overbite. The orthodontist is obviously offering to put the braces on again for free and all that... but it's still pissing me off. I'd almost rather not get it done and not even deal with it ever again... it's not like i'm bothered by my appearance and i don't have any pain really whereas people with misaligned bites do tend to have.Yet, even though i'm not bothered by my apperance or anything, my mom was being a complete dick about the situation. "Yeah, you should put the braces back on, have you seen yourself in the mirror? It's not normal. You don't look right". Man did i want to slap her.So right now i'm going into 2nd year univ... supposed to be having time of my life, and i have to deal with this shit. So, this is what i plan on doing:1: asking some female friends if they truly do find my smile/jaw unattractive.2: asking the oral surgeon about the actual health implications of my situation. (As i said, my underbite is not as serious as most... the top teeth are essentially right on top of the bottom, not behind).Essentially, if my female friends say yes... i may go ahead and bite the bullet, as lost relationship experiences now may be multiplied indefinitely in the future. But if they say no... then what the hell's the point?Anyways yea, main thing... I'm generally the type of person that nothing gets me down, but this is just truly an unfortunate situation.

Agreeing with helms here completely... also to add the comment, how likely is it that your friends will risk hurting your feelings by saying that you don't have a nice smile? I know I'd tell a white lie to save hurting someone's feelings!!Get it done now before you have to pay loads for it! It will be worth it

"what? no".but yea the fact that i'm currently under mommy's and dadddy's insurance especially helps (if i do go through with the jaw surgery).
