I guess I wasnt really clear in my last post on this. I wanna get to the point where I can see a car and tell what model it is. Whats the quickest way to learn this?

I dont wanna be a mechanic...I wanna learn types of cars, not how they work.

I know what you were asking but the reason why I reposted those responses is because I thought they were the best ones.I don't see any other shortcut in learning something new without doing a bit of work yourself (as in, there's no real "quickest" way). You can start by attending a class, going to the library, or go somewhere else that works with cars or talk to someone you know who works with them.Or you can use the internet for research. blackmanoncampus gave you a tip with using How Stuff Works. And this is what I found. Search around the internet and see what pops up. albeitmyself's idea of car dealers is a good idea also.

Car shows. Library. Magazines. Specifically look for Car and Driver magazine.Or http://www.carpictures.com/

Again dude, there is no quick and easy method to learning cars. It takes hours of just looking over cars to be able to tell the difference. In some instances you actually have to listen to the car to tell the difference. That's why I say, go to a car meet. There will be tons of different and like cars there and there will numerous people to talk to. Sometimes the only way to tell if a car is this model or another model of a car, is by simply looking at the badge -- but this doesn't worked for d-badged/rebadged cars. Now, if you're just thinking, "Oh hey there's a car! it must be a bmw 325i" then...you're going to have to look over the history of that car and learn what distinguishes it from the other 3-series bmw's out there. In my opinion, as resident blackmanoncampus, I wouldn't start with bmw/mercedes-benz, as they use a lot of numeric names, and the subtle changes in the body style aren't enough for a "novice." Honestly, start with honda/acura, nissan/infiniti, and GM or Ford cars.
