All righty...I had this happen last night... Sort of.I sleep with music on.I layed down, and in that pre sleep stage I was having hallucinations. I would hear something, then my chair by my comp, which squeaks turn, then footsteps. I just KNEW somehow that the music from my computer was coming towards me. And then It screamed a lyric into my ear, which echoed. I hearrd things moving in my room, like books, etc.If I sleep without music it is worse. But now it is worse. I am having these things as we speak. I see thinks, hear things, feel things. I saw one of those strings, which pull your window blinds up and down, hanging in my closet out the corner of my eye, and it went away. I felt a cat brush against my leg (Dont ask how I know.) I see an ant or two on my desk that arent, I feel itches, and most notably, the feeling of aches, pains, upper body spasms, and the feeling something is craling up my legs. Now I am itching, and I am scared, If I sleep I have nightmares. What should I do?

Dream-like visions during the pre-sleep stage (the 'hypnagogic state') are normal. They are like dreams, but they are not the same as ordinary dreams, and you are half-awake.However, having hallucinatory perceptions when fully awake isn't normal. If it's not due to drugs it may indicate some type of brain dysfunction. If it's a one-off it may be an anxiety attack, but if it continues, you should get medical attention.
