I tend to over-indulge in any topic that peeks my interest, as well as foods that I like (I've had a whole thing of Orange Sherbert with Chocolate chips in 2-3 days). Recently, I've been staying up late because I've needed more time to read about topics that I find. Although I'm going to sleep after I post this. Some of the things I'm absorbing myself in are the Presidential Elections, a Philosophy-based religion (sortof), and I've been thinking about reading more History (in-depth, not a brief general look like in school). Most of the things I do this with are ones that I don't know much about (politics and history, mainly). Heck, I even said ahead of time that I wasn't going to pay attention to the Elections, because I'm too young by a month. Shows that I was wrong about that >.> I've also been trying to write a sort of story, though I haven't in two weeks and am only 3,000 words done.I find a lot of this ironic in my case, since Writing, History, and Government are subjects I've never showed much interest in. The things I'm really into are Calculus and Physics, as well as Programming, which I never really look into outside of class (though I'm in Calculus 3, so everything is new, now). I'm guessing some of these wants for indulgence come from my lack of understanding, and I always enjoy learning new things (stuff I find interesting and previously unknown to me, I generally tell to my sister [younger, and I drive her home now from school] or my dad). And since I started a class that's half Philosophy (and half devoted to IB Diploma), it seems my interest in the previously mentioned Philosophy-based religion comes from that, since I've been talking a bit about it after less than a week of classes. I guess I love logic and the type of thinking it has. I've also been rambling a lot about this. Then there's History, which I guess the first hints of liking it came from The Three Kingdoms (Chinese History around 200 C.E.), and the more general liking of lots of areas from Guns, Germs, and Steel (a very good book about why certain areas have come on top instead of other areas). I'm also reading about a book about the Discovery of America and the major Naval accomplishments of the Chinese during the Ming Dynasty around 1420. More rambling, and I can do this about most topics that I find interest in. Anyways... does anyone else do over-indulgence in topics in the way that I do? I just wish there was so much more time for me to do all of the things that I am interested in, or that the weekend would come. This is better than video games (which I over-indulge in also, but not as much now, although playing Klonoa 2 for most of the day and beating it has happened recently...). I just love learning, I guess. Seems to me like it's human nature to want to understand why things happen and to understand in general. Wow, I spent about 15 minutes on this post, bed time! I apologize if you read all of this and didn't enjoy it >.> I just love talking about stuff like the above

Over-indulging in Topics

if something peaks my interest I can delve pretty deep into it.However, its sporadic. Somedays I can't stop reading or what not. Other days I can't force myself to.What are your programming languages? I want to learn to program.. although I am not gunna take any college courses.. I think it would be cool to learn programming XD. it would be awesome to have programming as an option after school despite never taking a class lol. However, yeah i understand what your saying.. My brother could probably relate.. he is building his own game in every aspect cept the engine.. and lets just say he really gets into the scripting and stuff.

I'm learning Java. This is the last year, and I'm going to probably take the AP test, as well as the IB SL test. It's been a really lax class, except now the teacher is actually making us do work every day, when we usually played games >.> My favorite program was Knights Tour, which was done with Arrays, and we made a program that had the rank of how many squares could go into it (with a Knight) and it would choose between the lowest ranked ones randomly and go there. The objective was to touch every square. And the funny thing was that my program was at least 2/3 the length of the one shown by the makers of the web lessons, meaning I had found a more efficient way :-PGah, stop replying, I'm staying up later

lol I know what its like to feel bad without a shower XD.I wanna learn to program XD. I will probably start with a simple irc bot or something..Don't guess you can recommend any tutorials or anything? I can't say i care for which language as long as it is practical... I just want to be able to see I'm making progress >.<

I've been known to obsess over topics. It was moreso when I was younger though. I used to read all the time and I especially had a thing for historical fiction, so when I found topics that I was interested in I read alot of outside material about them. Off the top of my head some of the topics were...the Tudor/Elizabethan periods, the Revolutionary war, Civil war, WWII, the Oregon Trail, Titanic, Laura Ingalls Wilder.......After all that reading I started getting kinda chubby so my parents started getting me into more athletic endeavors.

Well, we do most of our stuff off of web lessons, so I could potentially give you the link as well as username and password, although I don't know if I'm supposed to do stuff like that, but I don't care. Perl and Python are two that have been gaining increasing popularity, it seems, although I don't know what they're like. C++ is a good one to learn because a lot of the concepts within it are in other languages.
