Ok im curious about if something is worse at play or healing takes a loong time. I only had a sprain level 1 according to the doc because there was no red and black like in the internet pics (i self diagnosed too lol) and I could walk on it very slowly and with a brace (no crutches). Only problem was I got the injury like at the start of june I believe. I got it off (the brace) in about 2 weeks. Now its about july and if I go through my full ROM with my foot and I move it up there is still a pain in the original injured location. Also, I noticed on that foot (my old strong foot) it is alot easier for me to get into the sprained position again. (when you lose your footing and it bends). I am able to save it so far which is good to not revive sprains. Also, I am back to running at top speed though I feel I lost some which is a shame since i was so fast. I did track and hopefully I can go back soon. Do you think there is something still wrong or does this sort of thing have a really long healing time cause it really sucks.

Sprained ankle aftermath

I think it's not possible to tell over the Net whether there's something still wrong - you really need to go back to that doctor (or better, one with sports medicine experience) and get a full examination. But sprained ankles do take a long time to heal, and are never quite as strong again. They need to be treated very carefully.

I have a long history of spraining and rolling my ankles, and they usually take a while (as in, months) to get to the point where they don't hurt anymore, although a week or two is all I need to be able to walk and run on them again. Yoga has really helped strenthen my ankles, so you might want to try that.

I got a bad sprain in my right ankle about six months ago and if I move my foot far enough to the left (the way i sprained it) it still hurts, though not at all badly. My g/f sprained one of hers several times, quite badly, during high school basketball, and I will pass on her advice: "push yourself; after the first few days, sprains will heal faster and better if you walk, run, jump on it. Just don't re-injure it."
-
I don't think that's necessarily good advice. My wife made hers much worse by walking on it a week later.

Thanks alot guys...and as for the "push yourself further" I actually like to push myself but since I pride myself in running I really dont want to take that chance to make it so I cant do it anymore.

Yeah it didn't seem like good advice to me either, but to a certain degree i think its effective.
