I have, today, finished 5 months of 20 mg accutane. My question is what are the chances that the acne comes back. My dermatologist said it may or may not, but what is YOUR thinking, YOUR experience?

Accutane

I'm a year and a half out of it and the most I get now is the odd pimple. I can honestly say I've only had one in the last 6 months (and that was after a serious junk food binge).Well done for bearing 5 months of that shit, I know how hard it is.

Thanks Joe.
Also, will the chapped lips go away? Thats the only problem I have had. -
That's a common side-effect of Accutane and should go away when you go off it.

Awesome. Thanks for all the help and answers, I really appreciate it.Anymore experiences/comments are welcome!

I have always been a big support for Accutane when all other medications have failed. I had severe acne when I was younger and tried every prescription you could think of for Acne. Finally the doctor put me on Accutane and that did the trick. That’s been almost 11 years ago now… wow… times flies lol. I do get the occasional pimple now and than but nothing even close to what it was when I was a teenager.Good Luck

i currently have sever acne and have tried everything below accutane...which i believe is the next step up and the highest (right?)anyway, for the people who have used it, is it worth it? my mom is afraid of the side affects it may bring but i really want to get rid of my acne and am willing to take it...

Remember when I took Accutane it was 11 years ago, but back than it was the strongest medication you could get to treat acne. Things could have changed by than.As for side effects, I had absolutely none. I never had chapped lips, overly drying of the face etc etc. It really does vary from person to person.I certainly think it's something worth talking to your dermatologist about, especially if you have tried everything else without any positive results.
