Not sure where to put this but anyways,I'm getting my first tattoo in a couple of weeks. My design has been selected, I have made the booking and have put the deposit down. I'm not worried about the pain. However I just want to know whether I will be able to work the next day? I will be getting the tattoo on my hip and I work in retail. Can anyone who has a tattoo or knows anyone who got one tell me how much pain they experienced afterwards?Thank you any information will be appreciated

Hey, I have 3 tat's goin on 4, all on my arm. Since the arm is a harder tissue than say, the hip area, it didn't hurt whatsoever. What you are going to feel is a slight pinching/burning sensation, but it is tolerable. As for working, yes, there won't be a problem. You will have to wrap it up with surran (sp) wrap for the first hour or so and put cream on it to protect it, but after that you are good to go, just be gentle with it. It will take about 2 weeks to fully heal. Your tattoo artist will go over mostly all of this with you.-Good Luck

I have 4....it doesn't hurt at all the next day. It hurts while your getting it done, but the next day you will be fine.

I have one (and plan to have a few more) and other than a little stinging, it didn't really hurt at all. Of course mine was on my ankle, but I have a friend who has one on her hip and she said it didn't hurt much. It really all depends on the person though... I'm sure you'll be fine hon

It depends where you get it, I'm told (by folks who've had several done). The belly hurts a lot more than other areas...not sure why. I've only got one and it was tolerable.

I heard the spine and the scalp hurt the worst. Me...Never had em, never will. Ha Ha Ha Ha.(old 7-up commercial)

thanks for your help, its a relief I don't have to get time off work and can hide it from my family easily who are very conservative!

speaking as someone covered i ink, lets go over a few things. All Tats hurt, the stomache is the worst but that area above the pubes and below the stomache? Id rather break a leg again than have more ink put there. The worst is the dick, have to keep a hard on while its being done and it hurts like a mother fucker!going over skin thats close to bone is always painful, spine, ankle, places like that.second a tat is a life long commitment, make sure its what you want before you do it.I never took any time off work for having a tat done. all of mine have hurt for about a week after being done, feels like a mild sunburn.Something to consider is the aftercare. dont use shit that bleaches ink out for the moisturizer and dont use ointments that treat pain as it does bleach ink. did you consider that ink cant be put in the sun? I wera high spfs to out in the sun where my ink shows, the sun fades colors and makes ink bleed so that you end up with a blob instead of a design. taking care of them is forever.
