Well my problem extends over my years of middle school and worse in high school. I used to be an honors student and gradually got lower grades as I entered high school. This is partially because I have missed up to 50 days a year from lack of self control. I know i am capable of great things and I have the ability to score high on anything (I aced the CAPT test soph year) yet I seem to always do bad. I am now going into senior year and I am completely scared for my life. I have reason to be because I messed around so much last year that i hardly passed. According to everyone junior year is most important and i didnt realize this until it was too late. Now I'm a senior and i dont know what colleges to apply for nor how. Also i didnt take the state test last year like most students did and i dont know if i can take them or if it will matter this year. Basically i feel like i have messed myself up for the rest of my life just because of last year. I am from connecticut and the state test is the SAT. If anyone is from CT or is especially familiar with my proplem please please respond because i need positive input.

Ah.
Sounds a lot like me.
I'm not sure if you're in the States or not, but seeing how you have to take SAT's, i'm guessing you are.
I'm Canadian, and this is how our things work.
There is a 'key' you gotta have to apply to a university/college.
This key is made of the average of FOUR Provincial marks.
That would be what you use to get in.
Of course, that's not all.
They look at your sportsmanship, community involvement, etc.My advice to you, is to work your ass off this year.
Much like me, i was a good little girl in grade 8, and slacked off in grades 9, 10, 11.
Now i'm going into grade 12, school starts tomorrow, and i'm sweatin' bullets. There are two kinds of successful students:
1. They've worked hard their whole life, never slacked off.
2. They've slacked off, but picked themselves up again. We still have a chance.
And this is THE last chance we've got.
We only have one life.
One chance.Hope this helps.
Good luck. -
Welcome to A2A, Paranoid 1!Java's suggestion of a counsellor is a good one - every school should have someone who can give good advice on the SAT and on college requirements.Could I ask what sort of lack of self control it was that caused you to miss days last year?

idk laziness i guess. so far ive managed to shit a brick and break down everyday after school with the pressure of college, sats (the math is frightening) and just my daily school. i feel like im the only person who has had a literal breakdown from these things. everyone else seems so geared and ready.

Is there anyone looking out for your mental health? It may be that you need to take a year off and do something different, like working or volunteer work abroad (not moping around at home).
