Well, I have more questions for Winter Manhattan. Sorry if I may be bugging you guys, but I'd appreciate it to a great extent if I could get these answered. Thanks.First off, I'd like to know if someone working in the field of Forensic Science, a CSI who (I don't know much about their job positions) works in the lab more than the field, what kind of job would he or she get if they were promoted one level up?Second, is there a type of illegal drug that, if taken in large amounts, will cause you to pass out?

Weed

Thanks :]

How large amonuts are you talking though? With weed, you can smoke as much as yuo physically can, but eventually you'll just pass out because you're so fucked up and can't smoke any more. I dunno how much that would have to be for a person (I'm guessing an ounce or two by yourself).

Mm... I guess I don't need to know how much exactly, though. The character's so pissed and his thoughts are becoming so contradictory that he takes so much and wanders from his building and passes out and gets mugged. He takes a lot, but not so much as to O.D. (I don't even know if OD belongs to all drugs or just heroin. I'm kind of uneducated when it comes to drugs, which is why I need to ask questions to people who know this stuff, but I don't know any in my high school, so this place is ideal)But thanks though, you really helped.

In that case, I think alcohol would fit a lot better. It's common for people to drink away their problems, and you can certainly pass out from it if you drink enough.

Hm... actually, that's better, since I thought of using whatever amount of drugs he had left, but his source of drug got arrested recently and this would be another reason why he would feel even more stressed and tense. Beer it is. He's too poor and secretive to get the good stuff. Thanks for helping me out

Real forensic science is nothing like CSI. Most workers there are taking samples that have been lodged with the labs, analysing them and writing reports. Somewhat more senior people might collect samples from the scene (but not interview people - that's a police job) or test new analytical methods. The most senior positions, as usual, are managerial. You could pass out from an overdose of heroin or other opiates, barbiturates (but these are very rare now) or benzodiazepines like Rohypnol. But alcohol is probably the simplest one.

I realize that, but, what would one do in a manager's position? Manager of a forensic team? Manager of the specific building that works for the city? What would he or she be required to do and would his old jobs like analyzing evidence and working and writing in the lab still be in effect? Thanks, Pete.Alcohol probably is the simplest one - I don't know why I didn't think of it first. Probably because the guy is a real drug addict. On the other hand, maybe I should use drugs just so that I can really tell the audience he really does have a drug problem and doesn't use them once in a while.

Managers do much the same thing everywhere - they fight for money and people for their area, they start projects, appoint people, approve major purchases, set priorities, fiddle with systems and structures, get involved in committees, take credit for others' work and shift blame for mistakes. They never do any real work and quickly forget what it is like.
