Last year I took a physical to wrestle at the University I attend. It was a standard physical held in the gymnasium. All players were required to leave a semen sample. We were told it was part of a drug test. A few weeks later while reading in the newspaper it was mentioned that besides testing for drugs, schools or employers test for STDs, without the man's permission or knowledge. If an STD is found its noted on your medical history, even without the patient seeking medical treatment for it. Can anyone share any thoughts or experience about this?Another question concerning sports physicals. Have you ever experienced a woman in a high position such as head of athletic dept., principal or a representative of HMO insuring the school being present at a male sports physical? At the physical I had, the athletic dept. head & a rep from the HMO insuring the University, both female, came into the gymnasium during the physical exam. They were checking the progress of the doctors & nurses there and making sure everything was by the book. However, some of us guys were nude while going through the skin check & hernia check. These women granted us no privacy as they wandered around observing the job the doctors & nurses were doing. Have any guys who had sports physicals had an uncomfortable experience like this?Sheppard

Semen Sample for Sports Physical
-
my family doc is a good looking lady, i didnt have a problem when she gave me a complete physical. i guess u could say i enjoyed it a bit much.
-
I'm frankly amazed at this. I can see no reason why a standard physical should require a semen sample. I'd have thought it would run foul of gender discrimination laws, since obviously female athletes are not required to give one. A urine sample is all that is required for a drug test. I'd raise this in the news media.I also think you should have a right to privacy, but as female reporters are allowed to go into male athletes' changing rooms, it seems there is no legal protection for this in the US.

In reply to: female reporters are allowed to go into male athletes' changing rooms that's not fair lol we guys can't go inot girls dressing rooms. my thoughts stand, the world sucks.
-
Dude, What university do you go to? You are either lying or an absolute ass to give a semen sample. If this is true, (and I beleive you are making it up.) it must be a private school.
-
That doesn't sound right.Having to provide semen seems unnecessary and an invasion of privacy. So too, reporters of opposite sex going in the locker room. What? Are reporters "gods" or something? They can't wait until people come out of the locker room? What? Are they locusts to decend on people, invading any privacy?I would think doctors could be of opposite sex, but I think people should question why some stranger (doctor) wants to stick a needle in their arm. What is really in it or that "vaccine?" Why should they need anything more invasive than a urine test?Sports is an irrelevant waste of time anyways. The ball goes back and forth, and somebody you don't know "wins." So what? What difference does it make? They all fight over that ball, and each could afford their own. Why not a nice friendly board game, and not really caring so much who wins?I think I would drop out of sports, over all those invasion of privacy issues.

Giving a semen sample? The only thing that is good for is to check sperm count. It isn't even required for drugs or STD testing. Having done a sports physical a few different times a a few different schools, I would say that this is DEFINATELY not a normal practice. As far as females walking around the gym during the physical... When I was in track in HS our coach was a female and she was IN the gym as we got our physicals, I didn't really care all that much. And the nurses are all female that assisted the physicals. Frankly, I have nothing to hide. Why did you find it so embarassing?Oh and saying that physical sports should be dropped because they are "stupid" or "pointless" is pretty messed up. Don't hate because you aren't any good at the physical stuff. I played sports in High School and in College, I felt it was a great, entertaining, way to stay in good physical shape. It was a lot more stimulating than just working out in the gym. And while board games are fine for mental stimulation, you'll be crying when all you have is a 10 pound brain in a completely atrophied body..: theatre_actor :.

I have my doubts about the semen sample. Number 1, you only need urine to test for drugs. Number 2, I think it's a violation of your privacy to test for STDs, and there's got to be a better way to do this (such as blood test). I was never an athelete so I can't say whether the rest of your claim makes any sense, but I have a little hard time thinking this is normal. What university do you go to?I sometimes wonder of the legitimacy of medical personnel that come to schools. I recall that whe I was in the second grade we had a podiatrist come to class and inspect all the kids' feet, and said that I had out-toeing (which I just checked, and is an actual condition), but I asked my family doctor and he said that was crap. I wonder of the supposed "foot doctor" wasn't just there to get his jollies from touching kids' feet.

Never ever heard of such. A semen sample for sports, what did you guys have to do, jack off in front of everyone for that sample? Brings new meaning to a "circle jerk" LOL
-
It sounds like the plot of a gay porn film to me.
-
The combination of the semen sample requirement and the female head of department together sound like this may be a fettish on her part. Testing for performance enhancing drugs is fine as it has some relevance to sport, but anything else is none of their business.
As for reporters in the locker room, for me it doesn't matter whether the reporter is male or female - sportspeople are so often in the public eye they need times and places to be away from the public and the press and the locker room should be one of those places. The club/university policy should that no press go into the locker reason ever - no exceptions. If they want to interview a player they tell the press secretary for the team who will arange for the player to meet them in a press area.
-
I want to know how they "collected" the semen sample? Did you all do that in front of each other as well? I just want to know how that worked.
-
thats a good thought maybe they just give them a little cup and send them away with magazines or so they do a swab?
-
You can't do a swab for a semen sample. There needs to be an ejaculation to provide a semen sample, and usually that's done through masturbation into a cup.

awww right dont know much being female my self lol
