I lost my virginity at 14, I use to say if they use protection who gives a fuck what they do. I also said if they're not hurting anyone else let them smoke or do whatever stupid to hurt themselves.I use to not care because random people shoplifted random things. But I was wrong. Having sex too early can cause a emotional impact later. It can make you unsure of yourself and what you did. Smoking pot, drinking yada yada, you might not think it's hurting you or anyone else, but damn are you wrong.Don't tell me you can't stop, my girlfriend managed to cold turkey Cutting, drinking, smoking, smoking pot, shop lifting, taking pills all at the same time. And did it, didn't flip or anything, and yes I know she was on them, and I know she stopped them. The choices you make really do effect yourself and those around you, even things that supposedly aren't going to hurt you, as most will stand up for "pot" I don't know how many times I've heard it being scream that people want it legal because it can't hurt you.Hmm, it can cause short term memory loss, it can slow you down, cause you to act stupidly, not take anything serious, which can be bad, and in some cases cause you too lose complete focus. It's bad it's all bad, people should think about what they're doing and how it affects them selfs and others.I'm sorry to rant on, but I'm tired of hurting myself and others. And perhaps if others think about it, they'll at least think about what they're doing.

I was like them once.
-
I started drinking in 7th grade, and started smoking pot in 10th. In 10th grade i was at my lowest point and i was depressed to the point where i thought about and got close to commiting suicide more than once.I was failing all my classes and did nothing all day except play video games and get high or drunk. I didnt care about life and i had no goals for the future. I felt like there was no point to my existence.I never started having sex, i got close and had the chance when i was 15/16 but i didnt take it because something felt wrong about it at the time, and we didnt have protection.11th grade i failed most my classes the first semester and the second semester i woke up. I changed my life, i got straight A's and B's, i stopped drinking and smoking, irealized i had the power to change my life. I got my license, i got a job which ive had for 8 months now. I started sports again, i got a girlfriend who i am in love with, which made me glad i kept my virginity, we havent had sex yet but i know its going to be amazing when we do because we are in love and it actually means something. In short i went from a deadbeat nobody (i had my reasons but thats another story) and changed my life into what i am today which is a whole different person with a bright future ahead of me. So my point is anyone can change and they have the power to do it, they just have to realize it and make the change. This is my late night rant, just felt like talking. My life is a pretty interesting story, past and present but i kept it short for this thread to make the point that anyone can change.

It's people like you who will never understand why I smoke (weed). And people don't say it should be legal because it's not bad for you. Put it this way: If alcohol and cigarettes are legal, then weed should be legal too.
-
Weed wasn't invented today. And if they wanted to, they could outlaw Alcohol and Cigs, but they don't. Yet they make something that's less harmful then either of those things illegal.
-
> Too many people die and or get hurt in the process of getting drugs to the street. (weed too)
So if it was legalized, how many people would die getting weed to the street? None.
And there are millions moer people that die/have died from alcohol and cigs. Weed itself has not killed a single person. Yet it's illegal.
-
I rest my case.
-
> I wonder how many lives have been ruined, dreams shattered, lost and or lost track...
Probably not as many as you think. In any case, for every person that is like you described, there's probably 100 people that are doing just fine and succeeding even though they smoke. My point is: Any substance/drug has the potential to ruin people's lives. That includes cigs/alcohol and also things like pain-killers and other pills that I'm sure exist.
Seriously, I can't picture many people saying "I lost it all because I smoked to much weed". there may be a few, but I doubt it's a substantial number like you claim it is.

Some day when you're olderAnd of course because I'm younger than a lot of people on here, I obviously have no idea what I'm talking about.

Legalising Cannabis has advantages that blow the disadvantages out of the water.
By legalising:
The quality of the cannabis can be regulated for safe usage.
Paraphernalia can be freely developed and marketed to reduce the health risks of Cannabis use.
Profits, in the form of tax, can go towards the community instead of towards criminals.
Cannabis can be used as a step down from the more dangerous recreational drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Many people who smoke cannabis prefer it to drinking and will rarely do both at the same time because with cannabis, the time taken for the effects to wear off is far less than alcohol and there is no hangover.Prohibition does not work, it didn't work with alcohol and it doesn't work with Cannabis for the simple reason that the people don't want it. And no law made against the will of the people can be enforced.
-
Is that not what we are already talking about?People use substances to enjoy themselves, its happened all through history and it doesn't look like its gonna change any time soon. The only option that I see is to try get people to stick to the safest substances available. Cannabis is statistically the safest drug. Better than hard drugs, tobacco and alcohol. If we wanted to ease society away from substance use, Cannabis is the easiest stepping stone.
-
The only option that I see is to try get people to stick to the safest substances availableWell, according to Helms, we should all be trying to steer kids away from any and all drugs. He thinks that's the best option, and no matter how much proof you give him, he'll be right (in his eyes). It also goes along with comparing a legal herb to coke and meth, which is what he likes to do also.
-
we should all be trying to steer kids away from any and all drugs. So we should be steering then towards drugs?
-
Ok, that may have been confusing.I said we should educate kids on drugs (like people educate kisd on safe sex instead of telling them not to do it, because they'll be doing it anyway) since they'll be doing it anyway if they're asking about them on the internet, and he said "No, we should just be steering them away from drugs".

Hell, what if the whole fucking deck AND FLIGHT crew got high?Alcohol is legal, do you see pilots and brain surgeons drinking themself stupid while on the job? No, because its regulated. Thats the point of putting Cannabis into government control, so laws can be created so that it can be used safely without endangering lives. Now try to think of a valid objection instead of that piece of shit you just tried to throw in there. You will not be putting anyone off Cannabis in this thread so you can forget using retarded little scare-tactics like that. And as for people who get high being unsuccessful, I believe the last 2 presidents of the United States both smoked weed. I think thats about as high up the food chain as ya can get!

Thats a great point right there.Yeah, he laughed at me when I said we should remove the Birth Control / Contraception forum, but heaven forbid we talk about drugs. So for one thing we try to teach kids safe sex, even though you can safely say that sex has ruined many people's lives (Bill Clinton almost lost his job because of it), but on the other hand we tell kids not to do drugs instead of educating them on it. A bit hypocritical, I think. But as he told me, he's the mod, and I'll just have to get over it.Edit: Next he'll probably say "Whatever, I'm done discussing this with you guys" like he did earlier.
-
I dunno, I've always seen sex and drugs in the same light. People do them, you can't stop them, you should educate them so they do it carefully and responsibly. Helms has his opinions, we can't change them, just remember that your opinion is just as valid. If he, or anyone else, thinks otherwise, then fuck them.
-
I dunno, I've always seen sex and drugs in the same lightExactly my point. But for some reason we have a Contraception/Birth Control forum but we can't educate people on drugs. That's just the way it is.> Helms has his opinions, we can't change them, just remember that your opinion is just as valid. If he, or anyone else, thinks otherwise, then fuck them.I'm pretty much saying "well fuck you then", but I've been trying to use nicer terms than that these last few weeks, even if I know they're wrong.

I agree. Weed and alcohol can ruin lives and it's horrible.I had 3 cousins that died from alcohol overdose. And countless friends that died from misuse of alcohol. Weed got my best friends involved in gangs and my oldest brother/best friend killed. It drove my uncle crazy and led to his abuse of his "children". Weed put my other uncle from Cuba in jail for 7 years. Honestly, I don't know if alcohol is good or bad. I've grown up around it for so long it's just another thing to me. Everyone in my family was involved in it. All I know is, it's not good. But I'm not going to say it's bad. Weed, from my opinion, is the closest thing to death. Maybe it's "ok" for some people. But seeing as how my family and friends turned out dealing with it, doesn't make me see it as being beneficial. So you know whatever. I mean usually if my uncle hit me and was like "I blame it on the weed", I'd think it was just him because he's a dirty filthy stinkin' liar. But if it was my brother than I'd think his "involvement" had something to do with it.
