Hi guys,im a 19 year old male and on August 12 2006,i had protected oral sex with a sex worker at a legalized brothel. It was just oral sex and nth else,it was also my first and last time.I tested 2 weeks ago for HIV using a oralquick test and it was negative.However,5 days back,i noticed these small red bumps, around 5-6 of them under my tongue and on the side of the tongue there was smth like a swelling inflamed kinda thing.Like a mosquito bite but it was sorta irregular rectangualr shape, abt 3 cm long i guess.I was worried and yesterday i had an instant HIV blood test and syphilis test and the results were negative which was 139 days after exposure.Went to my family doctor and he said it was a bacterial infection and gave me medicine but i did not discuss STD with him cos im really embarrassed and he knows my family well.So my question is can it be any form of STD causing the tongue problems. The tongue surface is normal though. Is it possible that after 139 days you have tested negative for HIV but can it still be in your body and cause this kinda infections despite having tested negative?Pls advice im really worried sick.

welcome to A2A anfieldheroez if the brothel is legalized then there shouldnt be a need to worry about STDs as workers are tested for them regularly (or that what its like here in NZ).Take the medicine and if that doesnt help, go back to your docotor and talk to him/her about the likely hood of a STD (you dont have to mention it was a brothel worker) and there is doctor-patient confidentiality.sorry but I dont know much on how long HIV can stay in your system. Hope any of this has helped in someway

I see..Is it possible that you have may HIV in your body after 139 days but it gets undetected via blood test?Herpes? I heard that you get them where there was contact with an infected person's part. My mouth wasn't used in oral sex so is it still likely?

Quote:My mouth wasn't used in oral sexWe didn't know that. If there wasn't even kissing, it is very unlikely to be an STD. HIV is not at all likely in any case.
-
So that means i have a low chance of STD is it if i didnt use my mouth which i didnt.
Also,is it possible for HIV to be undetected at the end of 139 days?
-
It is generally said that HIV may take six months to become detectable by the test, which would be a little longer than 139 days.

I went to the clinic today, its a special clinic only catering to people with STDs. I was again required to be tested for HIV and it was negative and they took my blood to test for other STDs and urine to test for Chlamydia.
The doctor told me that by 3 months, the result is conclusive and now after 1 month,95% of HIV cases have been detected and 3 months is more than enough. He said it is 'very very rare' to see people have HIV detected after 3 months nowadays and W.H.O has made 1-3 months the window period and they follow W.H.O.
So that puts my mind at ease, they told me to see a dentist regarding my tongue problem. So after a week from now only would i know the results of other tests.

Well that updates my knowledge!

hey guys, thought i would share this with you,all my tests for other STDs are normal.

That's good to hear. Are the bumps still there? They might be some sort of allergy.
