I want to gain more lifting strength and to be able to maintain lifting something, but I dont know what exrercises I should be doing to get it.I'm assuming bench presses would help with that, but I don't have a clue what else I should do.

well, the bench press mainly works your pectoral muscles (chest) you should work your biceps and triceps for lifting strength. do bicep curls and tricep extensions etc..
