I know, I know, this post is kind of long, but it's totally worth it. Not only will you lose weight, but you'll be happy, and healthy!Okay, here is the ultimate secret to losing weight FAST and ALMOST efforlessly. Alright, I'll admit, it does take SOME willpower, but it doesn't involve giving up EVERYTHING that you want. Recently, I decided I was going to become a VEGAN (strict vegitarian that doesn't take in any animal bi-products like meat, milk, eggs, etc.) for seven days, just to become different. Well, at the end of that seven days, I had lost eight pounds. Doing some research, I found out that veganism is the HEALTHIEST thing you can do for yourself. It's literally impossible to get a heart attack this way, since a heart attack has never been reported in a person with a cholesterol level under 158 (the average vegan cholesterol is 128.) Now, make sure you DO get enough vitamins and protien. Vitamin B12 is a must have. It's only found in animal bi-products, fortified foods (soy milk, cereal, etc.), and daily multivitamins. Since I'm not big on milk (or soymilk, it tastes exactly the same) I go with the multivitamin. I take one called Onesource Teen. They're not that expensive, and you can get them at any store. Finding foods that are vegan is kind of hard, but not impossible. Just make sure that you read the ingredients on everything you buy. A good place to go for information would be www.goveg.com . This diet is really great, I'm happy, healthy, and much slimmer. I've lost 15 pounds in just a little over 2 weeks (eating late at night before bed has slowed me down a bit.) The great part about this diet is that you're never hungry, and you can eat as often as you want. For maximum effects, I would try to get involved in some cardio (I walk 2 miles every day, and run 1) and weight training so you don't lose muscle (make sure to get adiquet protein from things like nuts, beans, etc.) Don't worry, everything you eat has protein, even things like brocolli. I would really recommend this diet to anyone. Not only are you yourself getting healthier, but it's great for the animals. If you want to give up meat and other animal bi-products, but just can't seem to do it, I would reccomend 'Meet Your Meat,' a PeTA video narrated by Alec Baldwin. The link is Here: http://www.meetyourmeat.com/indexvid.asp?video=mym2002Don't worry about not getting enough protein, most of us get WAY too much protein, since what we should be getting can be found in one medium sized pork chop (depending on your workout regimin.) P.S. Please reply w/ comments, claims to trying it, etc.

Loss Weight FAST: the ultimate weight loss secret.

Didn't dateline do something on this recently? Either was it's not good for you. Vegetables don't give you all the protein you need either, especially if you're still growing. The secret to losing weight: Eating a balanced diet with daily exercise.
-
Well, probably not. Sure, I agree, you can't get protein JUST from vegtables, you have to eat things like beans and nuts, but being a vegan is really healthy. Some people even raise their children on a vegan diet, and they come out more healthy than the average child. They have been observed to be at a healthy weight, attain a better height, and be more active than children not raised on a vegan diet. Besides, you say it may not be good for you, but teenagers do Atkins all the time, and that has been proven to lead to complications such as heart disease, stroke, and in some cases, premature diabeties.

In reply to:and that has been proven to lead to complications such as heart disease, stroke, and in some cases, premature diabetiesIf by premature diabetes you mean Type 1 then you are wrong, there is nothing you can "do" to get Type 1, that's only the case in Type 2 and partly Type 1½.By the way, I have Type 1. And no, not like many people assume when they find out I have diabetes (the most common question is "Why did you eat so much candy?" or "You should stop eating sugar forever" [you have to eat sugar for those who don't know..]) I did NOT eat candy. Ever.

Yah, my (biology) teacher's husband or something from last year has it... I don't really know much about it except it's kind of a mixture between Type 1 and Type 2.. like you can't "do" anything to get it but it can be cured... I think, like I said not to sure about it... Or maybe the teacher didn't know what she was talking about, but I'd think she would since it was her husband... :/

Sorry, I didn't mean 'premature' diabeties, I meant juvinile diabeties. Here's an excerpt from a PeTA publication called "The vegitarian starter kit." This portion of it was talking about what recent scientific investigation found about Vegan diets and why it is healthy for children to be raised on them:
"...Drinking [cows] milk has also been linked to asthma and intestinal bleeding and is suspected of triggering juvenile diabetes, a diseas that causes blindness and other serious effects. Some children's bodies reject cow's milk protein as a foreign substance and produce high levels of antibodies to fend off this "invader." Unfortunately, these antibodies also destroy the cells that produce insulin in the pancreas, leading to diabetes."
If you really think about it, drinking Cow's milk is kind of unattural. We don't see dogs drinking milk from, say, geraffs. If you would like to order your own vegitarian starter kit, it's available on the PeTA website. Also in the booklet is information on why a vegan diet is a healthier choice over a meat eating diet, for both children and adults.

ummm regular milk is not going to cause those symptoms/diseases, milk is a very good substance for a person, i'd be a little cautious about where you're getting your sources from, that sounds like a load of crap to me

Juvenile Diabetes is the fancy term for Type 1 (if you care, the even fancier term is Diabetes mellitus), and like the others have said, drinking milk does not get you diabetes, and like I've said before, you can't do anything to get it. Also, "a diseases that causes blindness" ... that is true, to some extent. You'd have to be VERY careless with your diabetes to become blind, and it's not all that hard to take care of it if you have the right medicine (= insulin).

PETA is one of the worst places to get reliable information from. I've got no problem with vegans or vegetarians, but seriously, PETA is a little whacko.
