Story: I drive tow-trucks as a side job, and I have a co-worker who has wretched body odor; it's literally a cheesy musty stench. It isn't too bad when I'm with him in the truck because he's sitting on the seat (which is the source of the smell) but when get gets out of the truck the cabin fills with his pungent stink.Anyways; myself and two other co-workers now have a problem. Whenever we sit in his seat, we pick up the smell; or whenever he uses our trucks or rides in them, the smell sticks. Now it's to the point where the smell has transferred into our homes. It isn't nearly as strong, but it's offending. Therefore, my question is; how in the HELL can we completely eliminate the smell/bacteria We've told him he stinks, and he does wash more regularly now; but the seat he sits on is saturated in it regardless. We need help, before all of us end up smelling like rotted cheese and we end up burning the tow truck seat to eliminate the source.

Body odor to the max...
-
because he's sitting on the seat (which is the source of the smell) I don't understand... who is the source of the smell?? the seat or him?
-
It sounds like he has a bad yeast infection of the butt-crack. He should be not only washing, but using an antifungal in there. If the smell is deep in the seat it's going to be very hard to eliminate. How to treat it will depend on its chemical composition, but can I suggest starting by swabbing the seat with diluted chlorine bleach.
-
buy new seat.lol or you could just douse that bitch (the seat) in fabreeze (sp)
-
He started the smell, lol...it's just helping to perpetuate it.
-
thats... Horrible... I feel for ya man.
-
That is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of.
-
Lol, replace the seat. And unless it is a yeast infection, tell him to wear Sure deodorant. It is a miracle worker. Can i advertise one here? :P Jez,

Compressed air seats for trucks aren't cheap, and the boss doesn't have to drive this truck, so he really doesn't realize the urgency of it, lol.
-
I suppose you could douse it down REALLY well with vinegar too. It works pretty well to kill stuff.Hit it at night when you aren't in it..or something, of course your truck will smell pickled, but that is better than stench!!!
-
Get some cheap vodka and douse it in that. Look on Mythbusters web site and see what they used to kill the skunk smell and foot oder and bad breath. Mix all that together and apply liberally to the truck seat. That's my very helpful suggestion.

Haha, I saw that too. As much of a great idea that is; there is of course that little thing; Imagine having a tow truck roll up on scene to take your car to an auto shop, and the cab and driver smell of cheap booze. I also don't think the police would appreciate the smell (especially when they call us to impound the cars of drunk drivers, lol)
-
Quote: cheap vodkaCop's looooooooove that
-
I'm all for the diluted chlorine bleach idea... It's powered through every smell I can think of.
-
Yea that seems to be what we're going to be doing. We're also going to spray down the entire interior with a mild bleach dilution (since he chain smokes in there, too; so much so that there is a FILM on the glass and plastic)
I'm almost tempted to pour undiluted bleach right on the damned seat, lol.
-
maybe u should just tell your boss the situation. He should say something
-
He said:> the boss doesn't have to drive this truck, so he really doesn't realize the urgency of it
-
Well what I meant in more detail is.. Tell your boss extensively how bad it has gotten. He probably doesn't know the extent it has reached. Come on.. you could die of second hand smoke (don't know if you smoke yourself) but a film on the windows and what not.. thats friggin' DISGUSTING.Something needs to be done ASAP. This isn't your fault.. i say let your boss handle it.
