Though I agree experience is a great thing and hearing first hand experience from people is fantastic, gives you a different light on a topic than you might have thought before. But even with that said you are only getting one story, one side of an event. When you're in school and being taught by a teacher you are learning the whole topic, not just one aspect. You can have your cake and eat it too when it comes to a topic of education and knowledge. You can go to school and learn your basics and still learn from other peoples experiences.... why limit yourself?

"someone reading me something from a book, and hearing about it personally, i'd choose that."Personal experiences are a poor substitute for the bigger picture, which is where the lesson generally lays. Personal experiences are to mired in opinion and the imprecise recall of the facts not to mention the handicap of a solitary point of view. Text books have generally, or least should be vetted, for accuracy and concise presentation of the information that they are trying to impart. First hand accounts are great for setting the context but do little to educate.I could ask gramps about island hopping in the Pacific theater in WWII but that tells me nothing of the causes for the war.

i'd rather listen to someone's stories though, before books, in the end i know that i need the books to past the test...
-
It's not about passing the test. It's about reason and understanding.

I just wanna know what books you've read that's giving you your idea of logic. You either greatly misread every book you've picked up or you're lying about spending time reading.Whether you have a high school diploma or not, doesn't matter. If you don't know anything about a subject, then don't say anything. It's common sense. What you do is you make up (come on, admit it) the craziest shit I've EVER read and try to pass it off as valid advice or fact. What's even more mind-boggling is that the stuff you come up with is obviously false and you wonder why people argue with you.Honestly dude, do YOU even believe half the stuff you come up with? Don't you think people are going to say something? Originally Posted By: GrownPastMyYearsi'd rather listen to someone's stories though, before books,See, that's the problem. You listen to the wrong people.

lol... i guess i should stop listening to you...

I guess you enjoy looking like a fool. That's a shame.

Pissing me off? Lol, you're sadly mistaken. You don't piss me off. You greatly annoy me with your false information and your unnecessary bragging. Quite honestly, your posts amuse me because you're not hurting me, you're hurting yourself. Especially, if you really feel you're past your years. That's just laughable. Now, I'm just going to leave it at that because this thread has gone off long enough. I only replied beause I just wanted to set the record straight. If you want to reply, be my guest, but I'd rather be it in a PM, so we can let this thread die peacefully.

what is with everyone on this board lately?!You're either flipping out on a new poster or arguing with another board member. Holy fuck, just chill out and answer the question. A simple "Olive oil will not aid in preventing the cum from entering your blood stream" would be nice instead of throwing a hissy fight and going on a huge rant. No one wants to see a huge agruement going on over 3 pages of postings.

uhhhh
I do.
besides this is much more fun than simply saying it. its been said to many times past.
and it did lead to new discussions after the original question had been answered. all about education and proper treatment of snake bites, not to mention that it tastes like shit when its not used for cooking.
Hell those alone where worth the drawn out drama -
Stupidity bothers us.

Don't Worry Star, I still like you, in that not awkward, Platonic kind of way
