Earlier today I had gone to the urologist because of cuts on the top of the tip of the right side of my fore skin. He prescribed me a cream called Betamethasone. He said if the medication doesn't work I should call him and schedule another appointment. He also went on to mention, if I choose to I could have a circumcision. He explained the pros and cons of the procedure. One of the things he mentioned was that since there is skin there, with it gone it will feel really weird. And that some guys like the new feeling while others don't. My question is, has anybody gone through the same experience? And if so what do you recommend?

Dry Foreskin And Other Slight Problems
-
I also want to add my question since I'm his lady and, as his lady, I worry. He's been getting these random cuts for quite a while now. They are usually near the tip of the foreskin. My guess was that his skin was dry and it cracked, making these cuts. So, keeping his foreskin moisturized should help. The urologist said that the chemicals in regular lotions will not work because that area was too sensitive (which is why the doctor gave my boyfriend the steroid cream). So, my question is, is that really so? It's not that I don't trust this doctor, but a little feedback from other people will help me learn better. My thoughts were that if some guys masturbate with lotion, how is it different for those with foreskin? My boyfriend's going to use the cream prescribed to see how it turns out. But he's about 99.9% close to getting a circumcision. I've already told him I'll support whatever he choses to do. I just want all our questions and concerns cleared up to see if getting him cut is indeed a wise decision.

I have nothing really I can say other then, those cracks will fuck you up big time. I have that problem with my feet and hands, it will be a terrible terrible burden that will cause much pain.As for the (Not working because it's sensitive) I dunno, but if people masturbate with lotion I don't see why it wouldn't work.

cracks that dry and lead to phimosis?? I've never heard of this before.Unless of course I took your post out of context and you meant something else.
-
Quote: When they heal, they create little scars. These little scars lack elasticity, which crack when stretched. It becomes a vicious cycle.
-
Whoot, you're wonderful Rad! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.I'll leave it up to my boyfriend if he wants to try the Vasline idea, after seeing if that cream the doctor gave him will do any good. But I think we've both agree if this problem is just too much of a pain in the butt to deal with, then getting cut is the best option. He and I are just a bit nervous, that's all. Even though it's a common procedure.
-
It's worth also considering the possibility that the cracking is being caused by a fungal infection.
-
That's what I was thinking. I really doubt the problem is with "dry skin". Something else is going on.
-
Thank you for pointing that out. I never thought to think of that. I don't know about now or recently, but my boyfriend hasn't complained about the foreskin being red, itchy, or irritated. That is, unless there's more to a fungal infection than that.I'd hoped that the urologist would have mentioned that but he left in a hurry because he had an emergency patient to attend to.I'll bow out now and let my boyfriend take over and see what he says. I only know what he told me during the appointment. I don't want to talk for him, since I'm not the one with the problem, lol.
-
Yes, you'd hope.. Too many doctors are just damn lazy and just treat the symptoms without treating the cause.
-
Fungal infections can cause flaking and 'dry skin', and they can also cause the skin to crack. They don't always itch or even look red.

All of you have given me so many answers and responses I truly thank all of you for the help you have given me. I am truly grateful. I will post my decision shortly right after conferring with Virtual_Star. Once again thank you all!
-
I don't understand. You're not going to try the creme?
-
Well like I said I'm going to post my answer after I confer with Virtual\_Star so sit tight guys lol.
-
The thing is though, I don't get flaking. So it's probably not fungus.

Yup that she did lol! She can be quite convincing sometimes and I mean that in a good way ! So since I have decided to use the cream, any thoughts on what to do incase it doesn't work? Or in case it causes more problems?
-
I should make it clear that betamethasone is not an anti-fungal. It's an anti-inflammatory.
-
It's not(doubt) going to cause "more" problems.

Well a problem has come up. Yesterday I had to call the pharmacist because of one of the side effects. I noticed yesterday morning that there was some discoloration on the area where I apply the cream. So before I called the pharmacist I refered to the instructions that came with the cream. It wasn't much help so I decided to call the pharmacist to make sure that it wasn't something bad. Unfortunatly he confirmed it. So now I have to stop taking the medication. I have to check what other options I have left before I finally decide to get the procedure done. Do you guys have any suggestions on the matter?
