Dry Foreskin And Other Slight Problems
-
Really sorry, let me start over heh, >_>; Okay, I had decided to use the cream the urologist had prescribed. So far there had been no problems what so ever, no burning no irritation no flaking, nothing. In fact it felt as if it were working. Then yesterday morning when I was preparing to apply the cream, I had noticed that there was discoloration on the intended use of the area. I then consulted a paper that came with the cream detailing it's use and directions and possible side effects. One of the serious side effects that was listed was: in case of increased irritation or discoloration stop use and consult with doctor or pharmacist. I then decided to call the pharmacy and ask about that side effect. He told me to cease use immediatly. So I stopped using it and there is no pain or burning or irritation of any kind on the area. What I would like to know is do you guys have any suggestions on what to do next?
-
The name of the cream is Betamethasone.
-
IDK. I think you're getting upset over nothing. You say "discoloration". That's kind of vague. Did it turn black, red, purple, green? What? What side effects can this medication cause?Betamethasone may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: drying or cracking of the skin acne itching burning change in skin color If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: severe skin rash difficulty breathing or swallowing wheezing skin infection (redness, swelling, or oozing pus) http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a682799.htmlI would consult the doctor on Monday but continue using it.
-
Well, when I say discoloration I mean it was turning pink. Like bright pink. But I recently checked down there a few minutes ago and it turned back to it's normal color.
-
Of course the pharmacist is going to tell you to stop. They don't want to be liable for anything, referring you back to the doctor. I just think you are overreacting. I've used steroid cremes before and you have to use just a tiny tiny bit and just rub it in well. How much did you use?
-
I spread about a 1/4 of it on my fingertip and slowly rub it around the area. And yes you may be right in saying that I am overreacting, but this has never happened to me before.
-
_1/4 of it _
??? what does that mean? 1/4 of the tube?
-
Sorry, I meant to say about half a quarter of a squeeze of the tube onto my finger tip. I don't apply that much pressure because I make sure to not over do it.
-
half a quarter of a squeeze of the tube Again, I have no idea how much that is. You should be using only a small dab of the creme. Enough to lightly rub into the affected area. This isn't a moisturizer that you glop on and rub in.
-
 That's what I meant to say a dab! Sorry to be putting you through all these dumb guessing games. My mind is mush right now >_< so I'm not making much sense lol.
-
O_0 oooooooooooooookay . Lol Just kidding, I am very happy to say that I am no longer dry! It seems the cream did work after all ^_^! Even though I quit using it due to the adverse side effects, from what little I used it seemed like it worked. However, I do have scars but thankfully they haven't reopened. I am now very careful when I masturbate making sure that I don't grip it hard and not dig my nails deep when I orgasm. Other than that no problem what so ever! Looks like I won't be needing a circumcision! Whew! Dodged that bullet! I do have a follow up appointment with the urologist so he'll be able to offer a different method of getting rid of this problem with having to get circumcised.
-
_so he'll be able to offer a different method of getting rid of this problem _
I still think this method/creme is/was fine and will be fine in the future. I still believe you overracted but you should talk about it with the doctor and get his opinion.
-
Very very true. But still better safe than sorry know what I mean?
-
Of course I am going to ask the doctor what to do why wouldn't I? Also sometimes when I orgasm it's so strong I litteraly dig my fingernails into it. And I don't like to use lube becauseof the mess afterwards.

Will do man thanks alot!

They are usually near the tip of the foreskin. My guess was that his skin was dry and it cracked, making these cuts. So, keeping his foreskin moisturized should help. The urologist said that the chemicals in regular lotions will not work because that area was too sensitive (which is why the doctor gave my boyfriend the steroid cream). So, my question is, is that really so? Dunno whether you're still reading the thread, but I'll add what I know as a lad who has his foreskin and comes from a country, The Netherlands, where doctors know that you treat, not amputate! You're right, the doctor prescribed a steroid cream used for stretching the foreskin when it's tight, it doesn't do a damn thing about moisturizing the skin. Your b/f's doctor is full of crap and it's pretty suspicious that he started talking to him about being cut right off. Your b/f using a cream that doesn't treat his problem will insure he'll be back for that circumcission. One of the best body moisturizers available is call EUCERIN. It is available over-the-counter at any chemist or where skin products are sold, especially for ladies, although it isn't just for them, it's just they buy those products more commonly.Tell him to use it everyday, after the shower is a good time. It goes on the outer foreskin not the inner skin and you work it into the skin just like you would when putting it on your hands. Cracks in the skin are caused by dry skin and your b'f's foreskin being forced to expand and uncover the knob is obviously too dry to expand easily, so it cracks. the Eucerin will do the trick and do it economically. You might also apply some prior to having sex (you could help him apply it ) just for an extra measure of help, comfort and prevention.

To use an American expression, "I don't have a dog in this fight!"I don't mean in any way to be unkind to you or the others who lurk and write here on a regular basis. However, the group is dominated by and reflects one view of foreskins, often put forth by folks who don't have one and who are parroting the opinions of M.D.'s and supposed experts who themselves don't have one and who were in turn taught by others who didn't have one.Using the writer's comment of his experience, the doctor suggesting circumcision for cracked skin plus prescribing an inefective cream for the problem is shocking. In the E.U. and I suspect the remainder of the non-circumcising world, at a physical or office visit, the doctor will check for a hernia and that's it. The only time he would touch your penis is if you specifically ask him or give him permission. There is not the fetish of seeing a foreskin and the closest he might come is to ask if you have any problems? There is no intention on my part to hurt any one's feelings here nor attack anyone, but I joined believing this is an open form and after being jumped on earlier, I learned that differing comments would only be shouted down and the writer vilified. I accept that, it's a form which belongs to others and is operated under the Golden Rule. "He who has the gold, makes the rules." That's reality and I accept that. Thus I confine my very occasional comments to suggest usimg Eucerin Cream for skin cracks.Christiaan Breda, Noord-Brabant, NL

I don't know what the heck you're talking about or where you are getting these ideas. This forum generally leans anti-circ. It's actually quite the opposite of what you are talking about..
Anyways, I don't believe the doctor just prescribed the creme to moisturize the forskin. It was probably prescribed becasue he has some form of Balanitis which is causing the dryness. The forskin is rarely dry on it's own.. It's usually as a result of something else.
-
Um, what's Balanitis? :open_mouth:
