I'm Astrophobic, being afraid of storms and high winds etc. And a tornado hit us. Luckily not much damage was caused to our house. but damn it torn the place up pretty badly. It's messed with me so bad all I can really do is sigh at everything now.First Tornado that's hit here in 70 years or so. So of course nobody really expected it. I was a dumbass and was outside through part of it. Luckily we live in the hills so it kinda jumped over us, and just ripped things a part with a little bit of force, instead of wiping us off the face of the earth. But it's like, wow I'm shocked, I can't even get my mind straight really

Sigh it finally happened.

I'm sorry you had to go through that but luckily you're all right. Storms will probably cause some angst in you for awhile.

I'm sorry to hear that, TheFallenLight. Traumatic and stressful situations do play with your nerves, and they do take an unexpectedly long time to recover. I think readytogo is right that you'll find storms very stressful for quite a long time. Try not to feel bad about that. When you are able, desensitisation therapy by exposing yourself to the phobia is quite effective.

The bigger issue is I was already astrophobic, from lightning strike near by and hitting me and my mom with an after shock effect .After this I'm going to completely freak

It may not be as bad as you fear. The combination effect is counterweighted by an exposure effect. Any high wind you experience now won't be as bad as the wind you experienced then.
