I like the line, duder. However, be a salesman, as in, not leaving the question open to a no.
Instead, let it be known that she is going to do it
"Yeah, so, here's what's gonna happen. We're gonna hang out *at such and such a place*." Make it an interesting "date". Not an interview.
When you get the date:
Don't ask the, "so, where did you grow up? Go to school? work, experience, name, serial number blah blah." That's the first step towards a boring date. Instead ask her something she's never been asked before,
"what's something you're extremely passionate about"?
"What did you want to be when you grew up?? AND YOU CAN'T SAY A PRINCESS"!
Things like that.
But getting back to the initial ask out, the key is to just pull the trigger. The worst she can say is, "no". And she'll do it in a polite way -- since you two are on good terms; watching movies and such. Also, if you can do it on a high note, as in after a joke, or something, that'll help.
You: *cracks joke*
Her: *laughs*
You: haha you seem pretty cool, we're going to hang out sometime. I need to go to the mall and get a new shirt, you're gonna come with me and be my girlfriend for five minutes and help me pick it out -- but just so you know...you're not getting anything out of me; I'm not easy!!
Just be creative, mang.
Good luck!!
