k so I originally put this in the health and fitness forum but I don't think anyone goes there lol. and I'm a teen, and this involves my health, and my life. so it kinda fits haha.so what would be the best way to correct a guy's posture? I know I have terrible posture (shoulders + neck forward, stomach/gut curved a bit outward, butt/hips pushed back), but I'm wondering what's the best way to go about fixing it. People have told me to 'just make a concious effort to stand straight' which is fine but who can realistically do that all the time? and I've also heard from others that exercise is thes best way since strengthening your abs would straighten your spine or something. I'm a pretty skinny too and I don't really do any exercise (in fact it sometimes seems that a little extra fat is collecting around my butt area), so I was planning to start exercising for general health, but would this also improve the curvature of my spine since I'd be doing a lot more active stuff with my whole body? or is the only way to just 'stand and sit straight', which to me seems kind of ridiculous and looks as if it's made more to make fun of/ridicule people with bad posture rather than help them...thanks.

Posture?

i used to kinda have bad posture not the way u say tho... and having a nice butt isnt bad... girls love guys with semi big butts...anyways, u dont necessarily have to sit up as straight as a twig, and do it 24/7... but if ur outside walking, stand up straight, if ur leaning against a wall, be stright, or at least have your neck and shoulders straight...also what ive figured out about myself, is that when i didnt have alot of shoulder strength/large back/chest, i didnt like sitting up straight/walk straight...ever since it got significantly bigger i've wanted to show off my chest, and shoulders/back so i stand much straighter... it's helped alot... give it a try and good luck :-)

so I guess it'd be a combination of making a concious effort to walk straight as well as getting in good shape? I think I'll start with the exercise first, cause I'd feel pretty silly walking around straight for no apparent reason...

i think that the conscious part comes in when you get in good shape... im really concieted of my upper torso strength and muscles... i walk around chest out, back straight all the time... most people say i look like a football player but back on topic...build the muscle, and consciously your going to want to walk straight to show off your figure better...imagine, this... arnold schawartsawhatevers walking around sloched and shoulders dropped... wearing an oversized long sleeve shirt and a baseball cap that said "get'r done"... he'd look kinda funny..

I don't know how to help you, but I can tell you that you probably shouldn't be doing what Grown says he does. Most of the time it turns out to be bullshit.
I'd wait until someone who can give you a real answer comes around.

you mean the exercise stuff is usually BS for improving posture, or Grown just BS's? lol

Amen to that! lol

Grown just BS's.Now it's possible what he's saying here might actually be the truth for once, but I'd wait for a second opinion if I were you.

do u ever even read what i say before you write bs? or do u have me on ur watch list, and everytime i comment, u just respond, with "grown bullshits dont listen to him!"muscles do help your posture... and if scientifically they dont, i know that with the gain of self confidence most people will stand up straighter, to show off there physique more so...i think that will work for 99% of people, but if it doesnt work for him, then im sorry my advice didnt work.. but what im saying cannot do any physical harm...work out, and stand straight?

I posted here to see if anyone could tell me how they went about improving it, because googling gives you a bunch of random answers and exercises lol

Did you even bother reading one of the first links?

Do you read what I say?I did say that what you were suggesting in this topic may work, but I advised the TC to wait for a second opinion because your track record on giving accurate, helpful, truthful advice is not very good.
