Who said anything about "enlightened"? I took too Western a view because I failed to realise the dance style might be culturally-embedded - I drew an inference about specific coaching, when in fact it was culturally coached.Long ago the church I was at ran junior discos, and certain songs induced in all the participants a common style of dancing, because that was the 'correct' dance for that music. One was 'Time Warp' - the kiddies all knew the dance, including pelvic thrusts. I'm sure the same dance was common all over the US. People didn't get upset about how inappropriate it was, partly because they were culturally accustomed to it, and partly because for most participants it was in practice quite innocent.Did you notice that that poster believed the accents indicated the Dominican Republic?Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means that it is governed by the United States but is not part of the United States. Its residents are US citizens but they cannot vote in US elections unless they move to the US. Effectively it is a semi-autonomous colony of the US, though this terminology is not officially used.

Instead of getting all up in arms and lecturing about inappropriate dancing, the administration just started telling the dj's 'don't play this song and this song'. Problem solved. Cause, you're right, they weren't humping the floor to songs at random, just to 'Atomic Dog'.
