I'm going to drive a stick shift!!! I'm so excited. I'm a dork, I know, but I'm freaking out. My step dad wouldn't let me anywhere near his Lotus soo.... I'm practicing with my step uncle's and that car is HOTT like fiyah! It seems like driving a stick shift is a guy thing. Like the guys are all laid back in their cool cars. But I'm going to be one of the only females in my school to drive a stick shift... MUAHAHAHA! I can't wait. (I just had....9 1/2 kit kat bars no exaggeration a 2 liter sprite and 6 of those nerd taffy things. You know those long taffy candies with the nerds on it. Those things are addicting. I'm on the patch...My name is Abi and I have a problem.)Actually... now that I think about it... a guy who drives stick shift is really shmexi... for some reason lol. And I want a silver camero.. SIKE never in life. At least not this lifetime... maybe when I'm 30...40... I'm in love with cars right now... if you couldn't tell... I would marry one if it was possible. Is it legal? Can you marry a car? If I married my car would I be able to drive it without getting a license? Is it just me or is it that when you get used to driving you almost become a part of your car? I named my future car already. His name.... is Strider...or Frodo..maybe Gandalf.....Magneto sounds cool. I'm sorry I'm stupid right now. Still high off the candy and experience of driving but...I'm going to leave before I make myself look dumber lol. Were you guys this crazy when you first started driving or am I just a weirdo.... don't answer the last part.Edit: Actually do you guys name your cars? Guys always call their boats, cars, motorcycles etc "she or her" so you must name them. Too many questions. Sorry, I'm done.

I'm gonna do it!

power to the ladies who drive stick!!whoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
lol yea I'm sorry. I'm still trying to calm down with very little success. My step dad is a car and computer freak. I only get to ride in the Lotus but never in life drive it unless his life depended upon it.
-
Thats how my dad is with the porsche. Not in a lifetime would i be able to drive it.A few days after he got it.. my brother dropped a wheelbarrow on it and it dented. I thought he was going to be killed
-
dang lol
I remember my older brother was in my step dad's car in a parking lot and he was trying to show off to some cute girl crossing the sidewalk. He forgot the gear was in Reverse and backed straight into another car. Smart kid.... lol
-
Ive had my license over a year and i cant drive stick > . < Ah i wish someone would teach me!! in a Lotus to!! Well best of you and congrats on doing something alot of teens cant do! But honestly if you live in a town like me where theres lot of stops and stop lights its more convenient to have a auto! All i have to say is beware if your buying a used car for your first car. I bought my first car a month ago and i picked it up, went and got gas and the transmission died on the way home...im still dealing with that, it isnt a happy story.

aww man that's harsh! you must've been pissed. :fearful:
I'm still working with automatic but I got my second stick shift lesson today and I'm on cloud 9 basically lol.
-
I don't mean to bust your bubble, but having a car is lot harder than you think it is. It's not all about fun and games. And I don't see what the big deal with driving a stick is. Most cares these days are automatic anyway. But hey, if it makes you that excited, rock on

There go the clutch and gears.

No bull. Your step uncle must love you very much...only way they let a novice behind the wheel of a manual for the first time.BTW, I don't know if you stated it already, but what does your step uncle drive that's HOTT LIKE FIYAH!?
-
you'll be driving fine in no time. It only takes a few minutes to learn the principals, a few hours to learn the finesse
btw, I was taught how to drive standard by a girl  -
I'm going through a bit of a car phase at the moment too, I'm currently driving an Nissan Skyline. An absolute beast of a car, and loving it.

Yeah im pretty sure the guy new the tranny was going, so im going to confront him sometime this weekend. Everyone is telling me i should, it cant do much harm. Maybe he will give me half my money back or something or he will just say "Fuck you" but it cant hurt to find out. Ive learned my lesson on used cars and ive also learned i hate fords. The car i bought was a 1997 Ford Explorer and its tranny went out right away and my moms car has been having problems for weeks and its a 2003 Ford Explorer.Toyota or Honda all the way for me! (Or my Dodge Viper which i will own some day )

Why Viper? Hot car in looks and sound, but shit all around otherwise. Just terrible engineering.
-
Driving a manual is easy once you get the basics. As Mr.U said, it only takes a few minutes to learn the basics and once you start getting the 'bite' without thinking then you're set. I never understood why anyone starts driving with an automatic, it just seems like a stupid way to learn. A manual isn't hard at all and once you've learnt that then driving an automatic takes no effort at all. The only automatic I've ever driven is my parents' Mercedes E200K. Its like driving a massive bumper car. But I prefer my car, lovely little Peugeot 205 GLD (1.8 litre Diesel ).As for naming things, I've never done it but my gf named her Macbook Pro 'George' and her Wii 'Bruce' after Bruce Willis.
-
lol not really "terrible engineering"...just not as sophisticated, as say...R35 (but then again, that car was designed to make even the novice of drivers feel like Andretti)...with that said it still handles well and makes insane power.
-
lol, You are so cute! Good luck learning to drive. I don't like stick. They jerk around too much. Or maybe that's just the person driving.
-
I envy people who can drive stick. I have tried over and over again to learn I just don't think I am coordinated enough. How sad a gay man who cannot drive stick... just seems so wrong HUG Abby
-
Hell yes!! Love my honda civic
-
that IS jsut the person driving I hate autos, have not owned one till Julie since I was 18 and bought my own car. Its all about timing and being able to hear when it needs to shift, feeling whenteh clutch is in far enough and not going past that and a smooth release of the clutch that matches the increase in gas. At this point I dont even use my clutch to shift up, only down and to put it in first gear at a stop. I never think about what gear Im in or what I should be in, its all automatic, and my car does not jerk or shake or jump
