And it's becoming a huge problem. And it doesn't affect me because I've never gotten sick from drinking, but i know it'll affect me in the long run. I've heard all about what it can do to your liver, and it's not so wonderful.
I don't want that to happen to me. But i'm too weak to do anything about it.

Yes it does damage your liver overtime but the main concern is that your 14. I dont know what effects it could have on development but im certain they arent good. Also im sure it isnt helping your life at all, does it get in the way of your school work or anything? The problem is you becoming or already being addicted to alcohol then depending on it until you can get help. I dont know where you get it, i assume you binge from parents or party or something, but i suggest stop going places or hanging out with people that make it available for starters. I know it isnt easy to quit and its a nice escape when life sucks, but you should really stop while your ahead.

Welcome to A2A, Marie69. Drinking too much not only affects your liver, but also damages the frontal lobes of your brain - the parts related to planning for the future, so you do certainly want to do something about it. Have you looked at AA?

Alcohol is actually one of the most damaging drugs out there. In addition to damaging the liver, heavy alcohol use damages several parts of the brain, the heart and circulatory system, skeletal muscles, and it raises the risk of stroke, heart attack, and cancer, among other diseases. But you should be proud of yourself for taking the most difficult step in conquering an addiction: reaching out for help. If you really were too weak to do anything about it, you wouldn't have been able to do that.Do be careful though; if you are dependent enough on alcohol to experience withdrawal symptoms (that is, if you get ill when you don't drink), do NOT try to stop drinking without seeking professional medical help, as alcohol withdrawal can cause serious health problems, sometimes even death.Probably the best thing for you do to, given your age, would be to see your school nurse or guidance counselor. S/he should be able to advise you on what services are available in your community.

I look at alcohol is a sort of really stupid thing. All I see is accidents, fights and hurt from it if people decide to drink all the time. I think it would be time to just STOP. I know it doesn't seem that simple, but trust me, if you just stop with all of your will power, your body and everyone around you that knows about the problem will feel alot better.

It is unfortunate to hear that you are so young with such an affliction. It is as though you didn't have a choice in the matter. However, I think it is good you are already wanting to get out of the situation. Do your best to find some support as you will need it. This is likely not from family as you are already in a bind at such a young age. Maybe you can find one family member or a teacher that you can really lean on. -
This thread was started almost 3 years ago by someone who hasn't posted since and it's likely is no longer around.
We generally refrain from replying to old posts unless you have something unique to add as doing so pulls up old threads and pushes the new ones down where they may be missed.
You are absolutely correct, however, that support is critical and that's what we try to offer on A2A. Welcome.
