In the Fall of 2006, after a few months of frequent sex with my partner, the majority of which was unprotected, I had a little bit of "damage" on my penis. It's difficult to explain, but basically what was happening was that she was a "little too tight" and my penis did a lot of scraping during sex. At the time, I wasn't worried about it, and during the sex, there was no pain whatsoever, I was of course able to tell that things were a little bit snug, but never feared any dermatological damage would come out of it. It eventually got to a point where we decided to take it easy for a little while because I didn't want to create any permanent damage. I ended up having a doctor visit around that time (not a dermatologist) and brought it up to him. He said to grab some antifungal cream and give that a shot, I think it was Lotrimin. Anyways, I explained to him that I was completely positive that an infection was not possible, and it was due to frequent sex (scraping) with a partner who was "too tight". After a few days of using that cream, there was no real change, which didn't surprise me being that it wasn't any sort of infection. So I did some research on good moisturizers because that's what I felt I needed to use (not the antifungal stuff). I ended up using some Eucerin Lotion/Cream and after a few days, everything was as good as new. After all of this, we were more careful with the sex, we used some lubrication and the scraping never really happened again. Since that time, we have broken up and there has been a few more partners, and some periods of strictly masturbation. I don't know if I just never really thought of it again or what, but the past few weeks, I have noticed that the head of my penis is either a little bit bright red, or a little bit darker than what it should be. There is no open sore or ulceration, no cut, no pain, no bleeding, no thickening of the skin, just the coloration/discoloration. There was never any of these things aside from the coloration/discoloration. Physically, sexually, I'm fine, no problems, it's just a mental thing. I just want the discoloration to go away. Obviously, after periods of sexual activity, the "bright" redness shows up, when there's not much activity, the "discoloration" is much less obvious. So my main question here is there anything I can do? Since this first occurred going on 2 years ago, I fear the discoloration may be here to stay. Is there anything I can do? I've had a few days with no sex, no masturbation and it seems to do the job, but what good is that? After sexual activity the redness will be there again. I do want to stress that when this all started, the head was taking the brunt of the scraping, there was a slight scraping on the shaft but the signs of that left long ago.I actually posted on this site when this all first happened, this post was with some lotion I had tried before seeing the doctor and then finding the Eucerin lotion. The post is here. Thanks for your time, this site is great,-therocks

Time is a great healer. Since this appears to be a recurring problem, two questions:1. Have you considered using a condom?2. Why not try some personal lubricant (after you have healed)?

Why not try some personal lubricant (after you have healed)? Yeah, we actually started to use a condom... but after that relationship ended, there was a lot of masturbation, then of course other relationships, but I wore a condom all of those times. The thing that's bugging me is if it were something that looked like it needed time to heal, I could go with that, it's just that it looks like that's the permanent color now, again it's difficult to explain. I actually saw this other thread, there's some pics in it, my problem is very similar to his, except the redness is sort of on the whole front part of the head, not just the bottom of the "crown".Here's the other thread I'm talking about - http://www.afraidtoask.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/315358/page/1#Post315358I pretty much wanted to know what else I can do besides give it some time, and I also wanted to know if this redness might always be there or if there's some hope it will go away. Again, it's not really affecting my sex life, it's just bugging me that things are perfect down there. Thanks for your reply.-therocks

Have you tried the antifungal referred to in that other post?
