Ok so I terribly hate goldfishes but I was bored so I started watching the two goldfishes in my tank do their thing. The bigger goldfish started to..."bite" the other one in the stomach. But it can't really bite cause it doesn't have teeth..but anyways I'm worried that its trying to eat it!!! Because when I was little I had goldfishes and when i found them the next day one of them had its stomach like...open...and there is only the water filter/bubbler in the tank with three other ones. Anyways WHAT IS THAT BEHAVIOR?!?!? why is it ramming/ biting at its stomach...another one of my goldfish had a missing eye....that like I woke up and found it like that. Do goldfish attack each other? they don't have teeth so do they like suck??

Any Goldifsh Experts?!??!
-
I'm not sure what this one is doing, but I do know they(fish) will eat other fish if they die.
-
It's domination behavior.
-
My Cichlids do this.. but they usually rip apart eachothers mouths. Then sometimes one of them dies the next day:(
-
I'm wondering if it's stress. Is the tank big enough? Are there places where the fish can hide?
-
Im pretty sure its dominancy (SP?) issues. There is always 1 dominant fish.

Home. Its a 10 gallon tank, it should be plenty of room. There is nothing to hide behind but my dad says the the "male" is not eating the female. Its just trying to make it spawn. But its weird...because they're now both doing that to each other?
-
fish lay eggs.. then the other fish fills em up!
-
Not all fish lay eggs. "Mollies" actually give live birth Sorry had to be a nerd and say something hehehe

Goldfish don't usually spawn unless the tank is at least three feet deep and has strands or something to attach eggs to. (And then they eat the eggs, so they will only hatch if they are removed or some eggs get missed.) We have them multiplying in our old swimming pool, and we don't see them taking bites out of each other.

Nooo they're not really biting each other, but it keeps ramming itself against the side of each other and then it'd harass it. Stop. And then repeat it like several times. Its not eating each other, but its definitely harassing it.
