Who here went to Catholic school? Did you like it? I went for my kindergarten year and then went to public school afterwards.I had fun in kindergarten, but I didn't like wearing the uniform. It was uncomfortable (not to mention dorky: a button-down and tie) and the minute I came home, I would change into regular clothes.I believe I received a better education in public school because they are not extremely strict, and because I was able to receive Special Ed. services for Math in third grade (Special Ed. services are usually not offered in Catholic school).

Catholic School

It's really normal in Ontario. You can go to private Catholic (Where you have to pay), or just normal Catholic schools, which are governmentally funded I believe.
I went to a Catholic school from kindergarden - grade 8, and there was no uniform requirement (Not at any of the Catholic grade schools I've seen). They also all had Special Ed. classes (I don't know much more though as I didn't take any).
I went to a Catholic highschool aswell, but we did have to wear uniforms.
Neither of the schools I attended were stricter than normal schools aside from having to wear a uniform in highschool. It was just a golf shirt with a logo and khaki pants, not bad at all.It is probably different in the U.S or other countries though.

I went to a public Catholic school, but I live in Ireland so most schools are Catholic. Its usually the private ones here that are non-denominational.

In the United States, almost all Catholic schools have a uniform policy and they are funded by tuition, while the public schools are funded by taxpayer dollars. I wish the Catholic schools here were like the ones in Canada, because I think uniforms SUCK!

We need a sarcastic, rolling eyes smiley on this board!Like you, I went in Kindergarden. I didn't give a shit about the uniforms nor the school. Don't have much memories of that time anyway.

Haha, good point about the smiley there! Anyway, one of my mom's co-workers went to Catholic school and graduated high school (Catholic also) a few years ago. She said she misses wearing her uniform because she didn't have to decide what to wear each school day. Me? I'd rather figure out what to wear than wear the same thing that about 400-some other boys are wearing. Trust me, I looked like a DORK in my uniform !

Yes this is because Catholics used to be badly outnumbered, so to get Quebec to join Canada during confederation they guaranteed Catholic schools would get federal funding. Now, Catholics are far from the minority, and still get that funding. It is wrong, as many Catholic schools are a lot nicer and have a lot more money than public schools.
