I think it's just a matter of perspective.I think the problem is that the writer has created this very dramatic narrative, inserting descriptions that only those who witnessed the incident could attest to, and failing to state where he got some of his information.I agree though that most of the folks on the bus didn't act bravely at all. I just think it's a shame that there was only one man who was willing to step up and put himself on the line to stop the guy. I think there was a time, back in the day, when he would have been the rule and not the exception.

I'm confused as to why the guy wasn't shot on the scene. I mean if a guy is flaunting and eating parts of a decapitated head, I think that's obvious he just murdered someone and you should probably open fire before he hurts anyone else. It's obvious blatant crimes like this, that in my opinion deserve the electric chair. It's like you're not going to be electrocuting an innocent man. 50 people saw the guy do that.

The guy barricaded himself inside the bus. Who else was he going to hurt?Besides, there are procedures to follow. You can't mindlessly shoot people.
-
I don't really believe that. You call it a right to bear arms, but what right do you have in potentally killing a person? You wouldn't be no different from the attacker.I'm not saying what this guy do was right. Who knows why he did it. But it's not exactly an excuse kill someone.

Yea, but the guy killed an innocent person in a barbaric, ruthless manner. Something should have been done to that idiot.
Yes, it's call the law. He's going to court and all that jazz. Justice isn't perfect, but it's what we have.Quote:
The moral to the story is VirtualStar, is that the guy should be punished and should have been rid of in the first place. He murdered someone in cold blood.
As I said, I'm not excusing what this man did. I'm just saying it's kinda silly to think "why didn't anyone shoot/kill this guy?".People don't react as you may expect them to.
Quote:
Oh so you're saying that murderers should just be free to walk around the streets killing innocent people then? That's what's wrong with this world today. Too much liberalism
Lol, relax. I don't know why you're putting words in my mouth, but that's not what I'm saying. What I am saying is there's a legal system to handle this. The guy will be punished and that's it.

let's not start a rediculous conversation on the idiotic idea of the death penaltyit accomplishes nothingit prevents nothingit's not cheaper than a life sentanceit's morally abhorrentoh, and even if Canada did still live in the dark ages of capital punnishment, it's not a cop's job to be the judge, jury and executioner

I hate to get into these issues, as I know in the US the right to bear guns is held in some places with religious zeal (presumably it's written in a part of the Bible missing from my copies), but I can't help pointing out that if this incident had occurred in a country with less liberal gun control, the nutter responsible would probably have had a gun rather than a knife, and would have been able to kill several people rather than one. Furthermore, he could have kept shooting as people left the bus and afterwards, instead of being unable to hurt them when he couldn't reach them.I am aware that it is argued that as all the other people on the bus would also have had guns, this would stop it happening, presumably because during the time the nutter's bullet was in the air from his gun to his victim everyone would have drawn their guns and shot him (good bullets travelling faster than evil ones, and with better aim, too), at which point the bad bullet would turn back, ashamed. Somehow, that never seems to happen in real life, though. In practical situations the element of surprise gives a huge tactical benefit.I am also aware that the argument is frequently made that if the result of shooting someone is certain death, then it won't happen; but strangely it has, many times. People don't always act rationally.

He was hurting all those people who were outside the bus.. emotionally and mentally.
He had a Rambo knife.. you dont think he could have jumped off the bus and went after someone else?
Quote:

I questioned that as well. Apparently you can't shoot someone if they havent shot at you first?
Quote:
It's call defending yourself from harm. The right to bear arms.
If someone was to rob your house, wouldn't you want to have a gun and shoot the person before they kill you first.
Here in canada there has been cases where someone tried to rob someone.. then injured themselves on their property during the act and sued the person they were robbing. Fucked eh?
I guess theres one of the big differences between canada and US. Our gun laws... I'd like it to stay this way too. Id rather not have guns laying around my house.

Of course that's not what she means. Who in their right mind would say that?
Quote:
If that guy was trying to hurt me, I would have hurt him first. I would have protected my life, and that's that.
You wouldn't have seen it coming. You think you could have protected yourself in your sleep when someone is shoving a rambo knife into you neck?

I agree. If someone did something like this to your family member would you want them to die right after doing it? OR suffer in prison for as long as theyre alive ( we all know he isnt going to be much longer).
P.S Hope this made sense... Didnt feel like posting 2390724 times.

You don't know what you would do if faced with it. fear has a way of parlizing the mind and body in ways people that have never experenced it could understand. ..and IF you don;t think you would be scared of a man eating another;s fucking dead head........ yea i'm not even going to say the rest.

they say on the articles that he ate parts of his corpse.he dropped the head near the front of the bus. and i read somewhere that he cut him up too. not just beheading.siigh fucking disgusting.

u know i'm reading all this thinking to every one iit;s a surprise or like "unbelieble" that this has happend. (i'm not saying this IS what every one thinks , just it;s what I THINK every one is thinking.) but to me.....is't nothing new...i'm not surprised at all. i dk if i want to go see the dark knigt cuz of what i;ve heard..... the darkness of it specially since i;m going threw a dark time now myself. maybe it;s why this isn;t surprising me at all. ...and people wonder why people freak me out. You never know whao your talkiing too or sitting by wehn talking too / siting by a stranger. they could have just raped, murderd of stole. are even planning to do one of those things to you. i've very ..i dk.. i prefer to stop and let some one pass me than have them walk behind me. I reach and liock my truck doors when i see anyone walking. maybe i just expect the worst to happen. what does htis have to do wiht the nutter? nothing... just stupid rambling to put off gettign ready and well.... sorry to say it this way but. a nut on the loos is nothing new. as for as him going to prison, pretty much bet on it. and i;d rather someone liek that suffer than be dead. when i tryed offing myself i wanted to be free. i see it as killing him is freeing him. no pin. let him bleed and cry himself to sleep. let him wonder when his next vist will be...and pray it;s not that night / day. i dk tho with a someone that is willing to eat human .......... my thoguhts are he;s going to be the one making those vists and making men cry to sleep. i can say some things i;d LIKE to do to him, but i know i;d never would even if given the chance. Like there would be... yea right.

Over the past few days, millions of people have read this story and cried and puked and said "how disgusting, how horrible, how could he do that, what has our society come to?!?"Over the past couple of weeks, at least that many have watched the Joker gouge eyes out with a pencil, blow up a hospital, and do other sickening deeds. And the reactions of a good percentage of those watching have been cheering, clapping and laughing. And we wonder why this stuff is happening?
-
umm, that was a movie. this is real life. there's a difference. that isnt the reason why this shit is happening. you cant be serious..the guy was a NUT JOB. its not because of some movie with the joker...
-
You've never hear of people watching a movie or playing a game and then mimicking it? You don' think there are sick people out there who can't separate fiction from reality?
-
there are, but theyre the exception not the rule. the movies the games and the people who make them cant be blamed for these few people doing horrible things. thats ludicrous.now given, there are things out there that go too far (like hostel i hear) but even thenand Damien, yes the Dark Knight isnt the "POW" "KABOOM" "KATHWACK" youre used to but its no more violent then the world was before it came about,(and it was actually tamer then youd think, the only gruesome thing you actually saw was harvey dents face on fire and you didnt see flesh melt just CGI flame, but you did see the gruesomeness of that side of his face), did you forget things like the spanish inquisition and the crusades? violence, depravity, evil and insanity existed long before movies and video games did
-
dont you remember the old adam west series? whenenver batman and robin were fighting someone and hit them itd have this jaggety bubble with some silly word in it like "pow" or "kapow" and im pretty sure ive seen kathwack but its been awhile since ive seen it
