It appears that one of the bus' tires was recapped, and disintegrated while the bus was on the highway. Also, the bus operator was not licensed.Bus in Texas Crash That Killed 15 Church Members Not Licensed to Operate (Fox News)Death toll rises to 17 in Texas charter bus crash (AP)

17 church members die in Texas bus crash
-
How ironic you would post that
-
omg that's horrible! That's alot of people. I can only imagine what the families are going through.
-
Is there a point to this or is it just an informational news service?
-
Maybe he's stating the sad irony of church members dieing in a Texas bus crash? It really is a sad story.
-
nahh HCl is a dick head atheist and I know he's posting this to further his reputation as an asshole.
-
what do you mean irony?
-
that makes no sense. Everyone dies why would it be ironic? That sounds like messed up thinking.
-
the irony is that they were all doing something religious and they crashed and died. it's just a joke for atheists like HCl, but to us theists it's awful to hear about.

You need to start thinking with the non-reptilian part of your brain.Don't confuse non-Christian with atheist. And don't confuse "isn't impressed by my shallow thinking" with "asshole".I think the death of 18 people on a bus, in an accident that shouldn't have happened and that someone is probably criminally liable for, is sadder than any other current event that's come up recently in the U.S. It's interesting how little press coverage it has gotten, don't you think?
-
I'm not having a temper tantrum, I just don't take kindly to people when they "Ha! God must have been punishing them, go figure!" You seem like the person who would say that. It'll probably make the news soon.

Dude, no. Stop being prejudiced and can the speculation, mmkay? After revealing your ideas on brawling and calling people assholes and such a bunch of times out of frustration, I'd say it's fair to call you on your temper.

It was in the news yesterday. It's done now, unless some amazing new fact comes out. The 17 victims are just as dead in any case.By the way, 23 people died in the Hurricane Rita evacuation bus accident.

Following up your reference to the Hurricane Katrina bus accident, another tragedy, although I don't remember the cause.
-
Apparently, the bus during Hurricane Rita was carrying nursing home patients and for whatever reason caught fire in traffic.
I'm assuming most of the patients wouldn't have been able to get off the bus because they were in bad condition to begin with. What an awful way to go :frowning:

Oh my that is so sad,to many people are dying in this world.
-
It was a "by the way" because it was different topic from the main thread of discussion. We seem to be having a lot of syntactical disagreements. That I, the author of the paragraph was wrong in my numbers? No, that's not what it means. It indicates a change of subject in that paragraph. "By the way" can mean, "you made an error...", but that is not the only thing it means.
I'm frankly surprised there was confusion over the meaning of that paragraph, although I don't mind our being pedantic together.

"Early indications were that mechanical problems, possibly with the vehicle’s brakes, sparked the fire, which was then fed by explosions of passengers’ oxygen tanks, Dallas County sheriff’s spokesman Don Peritz said."from this then thisok it seems as if they brought the bus out on emergency meaning there couldnt have been much time to inpect it right? i cant find anything as to if he was convicted but why was he charged in the first place? he apparently had no clue about the state of the bus and seems to have done what he could to save the passengers.
